After nearly a 3-month stretch in Lexington for the yearling and breeding stock sale seasons we are finally back home in Western KY.

If you work in this industry, you are well aware of the marathon that this time of year truly is. By mid-October, the weight of the world seems to prop itself on our shoulders as we try to get whatever our job is in this ordeal completed. The stress, urgency, and adverse variables are ever-present.

But somehow, year after year, we all press on until the game is over.

It doesn't matter if you haven't had a day off in over 30 days. It doesn't matter how tired you are, and it definitely doesn't matter if it's Labor Day, football season, or Halloween. When it comes to selling a thoroughbred at public auction, the work isn't complete until the gavel falls.

Why do we do it? I'm sure everyone's answer is different.

For me, it's the horses and the people.

They drive me batsh*t crazy more often than not, but when they're all behaving, we have a good time and 𝐰𝐞 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐣𝐨𝐛 𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐞.
