Reminiscing on this session from New Year's last year - that I never posted! In fact, I have so many sessions that I never posted. If you follow me you know that social media just isn't really my forte, lol. And it's a rare occurence to see a post. But this little guy was sooooo cute that I gotta share - those cheeks and that hair!

** BIG ANNOUNCEMENT **

It's August, the kiddos are back in school, and the Fall session inquiries are comin' in hot. So I need to make this announcement!

I've been contemplating this for awhile now. Going back and forth and back and forth (I've changed my mind about 10 times now 😅). Praying about it. Hoping I make the right call! And lately it's been abundantly clear that this is the direction I need to go: I am closing my calendar for the year and moving forward I will no longer be offering family sessions.

When I first started this business, my children were all little. And the older they get, the busier our schedules have become. I now have 5 children doing 8 activities this fall and looking at my calendar there are literally only a few free evenings in each month! This season of my motherhood is full in the best way and I don't want to miss a minute of it ❤️

The good news is that I will still be taking newborns! Beginning in 2023, I am focusing my business model on Maternity-Newborn-Baby's First Year. Scheduling those sessions will be a much better fit for my mom-of-5 lifestyle and something that can be mainly done while they are at school. Plus, I've got to have babies in my life of course 🥰

Thank you to all my family clients that I have had the honor of photographing these past 9 years!! I have loved my time with each and every one of you. It's been so fun watching your children grow year after year! Especially the babies that I photographed as newborns and then got to see every year for family pictures. I will miss seeing you sweet people! Again, THANK YOU ❤️

Seeing these sunny and rich fall tones again makes me feel all warm and cozy 💛 This was year 5 of photographing this extended family crew. It's always so fun to spend time with them again, seeing how much the kids have grown, and most of all I'm so honored that they come back to me year after year!

I had so much fun with this sweet family and gorgeous little Harper! She kept those purple flowers in her hands almost the entire session 🥰 4 year olds are just so precious!!

This mama here is undeniably one of my favorite humans on the planet. No exaggeration. She is our chiropractor and keeps my whole family in tip-top shape and is always the first go-to with our health! Not only is she the kindest and most joyful person you will ever meet, but she is also so incredibly knowledgeable about the human body! She blows my mind every time I bring up the most random concern! And she always fixes us 🤣 A true healer. I'm so thankful she's been a part of my life for well over a decade. It was so fun to finally capture her family at this fun age of having teenagers. Aren't these girls so gorgeous just like their mama!!

Ok. Legit. I haven't posted hardly ANY of my 2021 sessions!! Things got so busy, and posting was just one.more.thing to do...so all the posts got put on the back burner. I'm so bad about social media, even though I feel like it's the #1 priority for many photographers 😂 not me oops.

Sooo I'm going to spend the next couple months trying to catch up my page and show you guys all the sweetness, okay?? Sounds good! 🤗

Working backwards I guess, I will start with this adorable family!! I really loved meeting them and we had a beautiful December afternoon for our session - these pictures made the cutest Christmas card!

Hellooooooo! LONG time no post over here! And a rare appearance of my whole family 🤗

So this is how I get my own family picture done - another year of using my trusty 'ole tripod and remote for the Christmas card picture. I gotta laugh when I look at Joey, age 5 - he was pretty excited that I let him be in charge of the remote control (you can see it in his right hand - not very discreet with hiding it ha). And you might be wondering, how does a 2 year old smile at a camera on a tripod?? Well, when the camera picks up the signal from the remote, a red light goes off on the front. We kept saying, "Rose, where's the red light? Where's the red light???....THERE IT IS!!!" Worked like a charm, so cute! 🌲

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from us to you!

She lost her father last May...and this first Veteran's Day without him is especially difficult. She has so much love, respect, appreciation and admiration of her beloved Dad and I was honored and proud to take these photos of her wearing his army jacket. I know he is proud of his daughter for her incredible strength throughout this time of loss.

She said it best in her post, and I was so moved when I read it I had to share:

"This was my dad’s army uniform, I’m honored to even wear it and to have his folded flag hanging up in our office, as well as having all 4 of mine and Matt’s grandpa’s flags too. Such an honor to come from such a long line of brave men.

My dad was a military policeman before rising to the rank of 1st Lieutenant in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He had such amazing and fascinating stories of his time in the Army, I promise to pass those stories on to each generation of our family so they will know his bravery, his strength, his dedication and his commitment. It definitely won’t be the same as when he told them. He could tell a story 100 times and you’d be drawn in as if it was the first time you heard it!

In high school all the senior boys, my dad included, were gathered in the auditorium and told they would be drafted into the Vietnam war. I can’t imagine the feeling the young men/boys must have felt. My dad’s very best friend, Lynn Ihrig, died while fighting on the ground in Vietnam with a gunshot to the neck at just 20 years old. My dad still visited his grave every single Memorial Day up until he died. I plan on continuing that tradition too even though I never met him, my dad made sure I knew who he was.

This is the first Veteran’s day I can’t tell my daddy thank you for his service but I am so grateful for the 33 years I had with him and the stories he shared. So on this Veteran’s day I’m honoring not just my dad but all who have served this GREAT country, those whose names were called and left everything behind , those who signed up putting their dreams on hold, who left behind safety, security, and family to defend the freedoms we hold dearly. They have faithfully defended our right to freedom to speak what we believe and to worship our God. We honor those defenders, past, present and future! Thank you for your service 🇺🇸"
