Union Pacific’s “Big Boy” 4014 leads a special train eastbound near Luzerne, Iowa, on June 1st, 2026. The locomotive and its train were on their way to Philadelphia for July 4th, as part of America’s 250th birthday celebrations.

Metro Transit light rail trains travel through downtown Minneapolis and St Paul, MN at night in 2023 and 2026. A few Blue and Green Line trains can be seen stopping at Government Plaza station in Minneapolis, along with a pair of Green Line trains near the Minnesota State Capitol and Capitol/Rice St station in Saint Paul.

Metra F40C diesel 611 has found a new home in Silvis, Illinois! The unit was recently donated by Metra to Railroading Heritage of Midwest America, with intentions of restoration to operate on future extrusion trains. The unit arrived just in time to be displayed at Silvis Train Days in late April 2026.

Amtrak’s California Zephyr departs Ottumwa, Iowa on May 9th, 2026, shown passing though Clay Street. There are four locomotives on the train including Phase VII unit 82 leading. In the consist is Superliner sleeping car 32009 “George M Pullman”, just recently repainted into the Phase VII livery.

Amtrak’s California Zephyr departs Ottumwa, Iowa on May 8th, 2026. On the end of the train is Phase VII painted coach baggage car 31025, and Heritage Fleet sleeping car “Pacific Bend” on the rear.
