I’ve been absent for a little while now working on a few other passions in life but photography is still one of the big ones! I recently broke my camera and have been working towards getting a new one, so I’m looking forward to the day I can get back out there. This is one of the last sunsets I captured with the old camera from Lake Ontario. Hope you all enjoy and please feel free to share!

I haven’t had too many chances to go out this year so with a little free time last night I got excited. Then looking at the forecasts it didn’t seem like I had a chance. I went out anyways and was pleasantly surprised by a nice break in the sky. This is the beginning of the break wall in Oswego harbor. Open water on one side and completely frozen on the other! I spent a little time here earlier and took a few long exposures; taking gloves off, removing various filters and generally just shoving things in my pockets. I made my way back to the car and stopped to take few more photos when I realized I had lost my shutter remote. I figured chances were slim but I retraced my steps all the way back here just after the sky went dull. I looked everywhere but the remote was nowhere to be found. As I had given up hope the sky lit up with this beautiful glow so I pulled out the camera again and grabbed a few more shots. I repacked my gear, turned around and there it was barely sticking out of the snow; my remote! I didn’t get anything spectacular last night but it was so nice just to be out there again. 2018 has been off to a busy start and although I’ve been out a few times, yesterday was the first time I made a photo in the new year. I was able to make it down to the lake just as the sun was setting to enjoy this nice sunset. The warmer weather has broken up a lot of the ice creating this mesmerizing motion of ice floating along in the current over waves resulting in this beautiful scene along Lake Ontario. Within the first 20 minutes of showing up here it began to rain and I started packing my camera up. I stood there enjoying the scenery as it poured and then instantly it let up. I had fingers crossed that the clouds would clear on this night but instead watched the entire storm blow by for 3 hours. Standing at the top of the bluffs to witness this under an almost full moon was something completely amazing and although I didn't get the shot I went for I would do it all over again! A few weeks ago I caught this amazing sunset in Oswego. It started off like any other sunset with some nice colors but what really caught my eye were the puddles created by the level of the lake on this day. So I focused on finding a nice flow in the water when all of a sudden the light dramatically changed. My face was buried in the camera and at first I thought to myself, whoops I must have hit the white balance, then I popped my head up and was completely blown away. I looked around to see if anyone else was there to witness this but not another person was to be seen, I may have even pinched myself! The light didn't last long but it definitely goes down as one of the best sunsets of the year. Hope you all enjoy and please feel free to share!

This was a pretty amazing experience to witness. While I was waiting for the shot I had intended to capture the moon started setting in to the mountains and I thought how cool could this be. This was taken at Indian Head overlooking Lower Ausable Lake. Hope you all enjoy and please feel free to share!
