Last weekend, I had the incredible opportunity to travel to Providence to photograph the SUNY Oswego men's rugby team as they competed in the Beast of the East Rugby Tournament. It was an experience I won’t soon forget—not just because of the high level of competition and intensity on the field, but because of everything that came with it.
From the moment I arrived, the energy surrounding the tournament was unreal. Teams from all over came together, each bringing their own style, grit, and determination. Being on the sidelines, camera in hand, gave me a front-row seat to every tackle, every try, and every moment of pure effort and teamwork. Capturing those moments—both the big plays and the small, in-between interactions—reminded me why I love photography so much. It’s more than just taking pictures; it’s about telling a story and preserving moments that might otherwise be missed.
What made the weekend even more meaningful was the chance to spend time with my family. In the middle of a busy tournament schedule, being able to step away, laugh, and just enjoy being together made the trip that much more special. It was the perfect balance of doing something I’m passionate about while also appreciating the people who support me the most.
I’m beyond grateful for the opportunity to be there, to grow as a photographer, and to be trusted to capture such an exciting event. Experiences like this are a reminder of how far I’ve come and how much more there is ahead. Truly thankful for the memories made.
