𝙃𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙮 4𝙩𝙝 𝙒𝙚𝙙𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘼𝙣𝙣𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙖𝙧𝙮 𝙩𝙤 𝙈𝙚𝙜𝙖𝙣 & 𝘿𝙖𝙡𝙩𝙤𝙣!👩‍❤️‍👩🎊

I can remember it just like it was yesterday. A beautiful wedding in Lebanon, OH....Shaker Run. The venue and it's views were stunning...truthfully, 100% stunning! The sky was brilliantly bright and blue, the colors of early summer shown vividly in the grass, trees, water and flowers. Every inch picture worthy! 😍

I had convinced my husband to roadtrip with me from Daytona to Lebanon-- flying with all of my gear can be a lot at times, and I wanted to make sure I was fully prepared and ready to go. Not just because your wedding day is such a profound moment in your lives, but because Megan & Dalton had already trusted me to bring their vision to life once before and I was determined to bring it to life and then some. Again.

From a perfectly done first look, to a lost ring trick during the ceremony, and lots of the best kind of unhinged fun during the reception....the day still registers as one of my top 10!

My story with Megan and Dalton didn't end there. They've since become supporters through all of life's seasons; including their trip here before they welcomed their beautiful baby girl. I welcomed the privilege of capturing maternity photos with not only pride because I was chosen again to capture such a sweet time, but with deep excitement and a true feeling of kinship because we've seen each stage from engagement photos to now together. That is something that is irreplaceable and also not something I take for granted. 💜

Happy Anniversary, Megan & Dalton! May your tomorrows be endlessly filled with love, happiness, light, joy and laughter. Cheers to the next 4 x forever. I just know your storybook will be filled with beautiful things!

Ohh, friends! Late spring and summer seasons in Florida can be 𝗍•𝗋•𝗂•𝖼•𝗄•𝗒 when it comes to weather! Rain, excessive winds, storm fronts...you name it! I am ADDICTED to following my weather apps and having notifications turned on because you just never know! Sun and heat one minute, torrential downpour and a 15° temperature drop the next! 😅 Good ol' Florida! We've now officially entered into hurricane season, too. Hooray! 🤭 With that comes near daily 15 minute downpours, usually like clockwork each day. Oh! And heat, lots of heat, mixed with nice and sticky humidity! 🫣

But rest assured! Your sessions are of the utmost of importance to me! After all, they are the lifeline of what I do. I will keep you apprised each and every step of the way if weather questions our time together. Weather back-up dates are discussed and put into play if needed or even as a precaution, and ample reschedule opportunities are provided. We can't predict or control the weather...even though a remote with those capabilities sounds great! 😆

I strive to make sure each and every session is fun, comfortable, safe and successful. Even though the photos are preserved forever, the experience is the heart of the memory that you'll replay in your head. No matter sun, wind, cloudy skies or rain, I've got your back and your photo vision! We'll get through and figure it out together. 🩵

𝑷𝑺𝑨: 𝑰𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖'𝒓𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒐𝒇 𝒃𝒐𝒐𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒇𝒂𝒎𝒊𝒍𝒚 𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒊𝒕 𝒔𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏, 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒊𝒔 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒔𝒊𝒈𝒏!

My time with the Bess family was truly such a blast! The impending storm added a level of mystique to the already high energy charge of the family (and a very dramatic sky!)...and I was completely amped for it all! 🤗 🌩

I love creating movement and playful elements during sessions- especially with kiddos- and the ENTIRE family joined in the camaraderie! From jumping, skipping hand in hand, races to and from the water, even sticking arms out to fly around each other as airplanes...there wasn't a moment that wasn't fueled by real, authentic childlike spirit.

As our time together grew, so did the coming storm! The wind picked up, but, no worries-let's rotate and reposition! Plus, those flyaway hairs are no match for the editing in post anyway! 😉 With the increase in wind also came lightning and some rumbles of thunder in the distance. We didn't break a sweat or get thrown off course-- we used that as fuel to keep the energy going and knock out the rest of the session. And boy, did we ever nail it! 🤗

Family sessions of all sizes should be memorable, enjoyable, and real. They should highlight all of the pieces of your family that make it wonderful and unique, without seeming forced or heavily posed. The photos are meant to be fondly looked upon to bring you back to that specific moment now, and cherished years and years down the road when life changes.

𝙏𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙞𝙨 𝙖 𝙧𝙚𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙤 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙢𝙮 𝙈𝙖𝙢𝙖 𝙛𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙨:

Not every session will have littles feeling up to being in front of the camera or wanting to participate. Like us, they have their good days and bad days- and that is okay! I fully expect having to take breaks, stepping back for their comfort and letting them adjust and unwind.

In the same ways that sometimes we don't know how to process emotion or pinpoint why we feel the way we do, I can only imagine how the littles feel because things like emotions are so new and they are still learning. Those moments create a different, but still beautiful, glimpse into all that is motherhood and the raising of these sweet, sweet souls.

I know sometimes it can feel frustrating or like there's something that would have helped or made it better...but just know, in these moments you are doing an incredible job! You ARE a great Mama! 🫶

I'll stand there with you making crazy faces! Run around ridiculously and activate my inner child, she's there with me 99.9% of the time anyway! 🤭 Authenticity and originality is always what I aim for when I hit my shutter button, so whatever it takes, I'll make it happen! Whether the end result is a beautiful shot of close cuddles and comfort, or a stoic shot of you both just being, these images represent regular moments that aren't captured as much as deserved. Sometimes, smiles and laughter result from my silliness. As always, that's perfect too!

I see you, Mama. I am with you, championing you from the sidelines or shoulder to shoulder. You are doing a GREAT job. You are an incredible Mama! Meeting your littles where they are is just fine. Sometimes we'll get the smiles. Sometimes the tired, groggy faces. No matter what, I'll happily do it. Every single time. 🫶

In the beautiful story of Bill & Linda, I believe she is right. I've had the privilege of documenting their love story at different stages, but one thing that has remained a constant is the immense sense of true togetherness they share. Both give everything of themselves to the other without pause. Without so much as a beat or flick of hesitation. It isn't something they think about doing-it's something as natural as breathing. That is everything. Everything.

When I was called and asked if I had May 22nd available, I didn't pause or stutter. Of course I did! I couldn't wait to be there for a day that was inevitable from the very start- and perfectly, wonderfully so. And so, I gathered with the closest of their friends and family on a beautiful morning for their beach ceremony. Linda, dressed elegantly in light blue and gorgeous satin laced heels (yes! heels on the beach- like a rockstar!🤩), Bill in his HeyDudes, white pants and a blue linen shirt. Their fur baby, Luna, in her blue pearl collar, played the pivotal role of ring bearer and didn't miss a beat! She stayed affectionately close to both mom & dad during the ceremony-even had a small photo shoot afterwards! We'll call her the real star of the show! 😉

The ceremony was heartfelt, both Bill and Linda showing raw emotion; making funny faces and sharing little jokes throughout in between their tears. At the pronouncement as husband and wife, claps and cheers rang from their guests- me included! The genuine happiness was evident from every person, whether they were standing or sitting around Bill's hand drawn heart in the sand. Happiness doused in sunlight, washed in the ocean breeze and accompanied by the crash of the waves.

And now begins their happily ever after, because in giving each other everything, they truly have everything. Everything.

These are the moments I dream of. The moments I excitedly yearn for. Moments of meaning. Moments of your story. Moments-big or small- of LIFE.

|•𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑭𝒂𝒚 𝑭𝒂𝒎𝒊𝒍𝒚•|

Oh, a summer morning at the beach! Salty air, fresh soft sand between the toes, and a breeze that has both the warmth of a hug (mostly this! 🤭) and a slight mix of cool refreshment, like a sip of lemonade. 🍋

Rarely will you find crowds, leaving ample space to let yourself feel and be free. Free to forget your worries, calm your mind and just take in all that surrounds you...a brilliant force of strength and mystery that continues on as far as the eye can see. The waves crashing, some trickling up to tickle your feet. It's your own slice of paradise. A period of time meant just for you....

And those who you have with you. For a small, but mighty wrinkle in time, everything and everyone is right where they should be. Creating a memory, a perfectly preserved chapter in the storybook of your life.

All right friends, gather round....📖

You know we all love a good story time! 🤭🤦‍♀️ Buckle up, its a long one! Drumroll please....🥁

One fine day, I met with my clients at a location of their choice, the oldest cemetery in our area, for a half-way to Halloween shoot. I was excited, because spooky is right up my alley, and feeling extra creative because a storm was making it's way in. We arrive at our schedule time of 4PM, (with the intention of finishing up just before cemetery close at 5PM) and quickly get the session underway, respectfully of course, given the area.

The wind picks up and sprinkles are felt on and off, but we're moving along quickly and are kind of just absorbed into the mood and feel of the shoot, not minding the other cemetery visitors meandering through. Well, upon setting up for the next series of shots, I notice that we are now alone in the cemetery, odd because of how many other visitors there were just a few moments ago, and look at my phone. 4:35PM. Perfect! Just enough time to wrap up this series of shots and head out to figure out dinner! Until.....

I take a look down the gravel walk/drive and see the gates look oddly closed. I mention it to my clients and they agree, also noting it isn't closing time yet. 🤔 We pick up our things and start walking to the gates. To our surprise (& horror!) they weren't just closed....they were CHAINED shut--padlock included. 😨 Panic set in and we split up to see if there was another way out. Zip, zero, zilch! I placed a phone call to a non-emergency service and, after being held on hold for 12 minutes, was told someone was enroute to 'release' us. We waited.

And waited. Patrons from local establishments across the street came over, talking to us through iron bars to offer their advice and suggestions. We waited still. Another patron walks over, offers us cold beverages on them when we get out, and tells us he also made some phone calls.

1 hour 25 minutes. Still no 'releaser' from my phone call, but our •amazing• savior arrives. Turns out, the business located directly next to the cemetery is a part of an organization that helps to maintain the cemetery, and the individual happened to see us inside the cemetery waiting. After a quick chitchat, they disappear into their business and reappear just a couple minutes later at the cemetery gates, keys in hand. RELIEF! SWEET RELIEF! 😌 As they were unlocking the gate and unwrapping the chain, the 'releaser' also arrived. 1 hour 25 minutes later.

We exited those gates to an eruption of applause and cheers of "FREEDOM! FREEDOM!" from the patron crowd across the street who had gathered, phones in the air recording. 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️

If there's one moral to this story, DEFINITELY shoot in your local cemetery, respectfully mindful of the space. Just don't do what we did.....lol. Make it earlier in the day! 🤣 For the record though: the gates were closed earlier than they were supposed to have been and a walk-through wasn't done to make sure that there wouldn't be anyone locked-in.

But were the photos worth it though....?? I think so!

Just like her time at ERAU, Sydney •nailed• her Graduate Portrait Session!

I think there's always a certain level of added "I'm the ishhh" during graduate sessions because, let's face it....each and every graduate CHOSE to pursue another 4+ years of education + hefty bills for their futures. I say, bring it ALL to show off...a little bit of ish and a little bit of that! 😉 I'm here for it and I'll ALWAYS cheer you on!
