Yesterday, Jackie and Cheryl’s world grew a little dimmer with the passing of their beloved Dani.

Dani had celebrated her 15th birthday just a few weeks ago. After enduring a heartbreakingly traumatic life during her first eight years, she found the deep love, happiness, safety, and care she had always deserved with Jackie and Cheryl. For the next seven years, she knew what it meant to be truly cherished.

Dani’s beautiful story and love letter were featured in Volume 1 of Before You Go: Love Letters to Senior Dogs, and I feel deeply honored to have captured the extraordinary bond she shared with her family.

Our hearts are with Jackie and Cheryl as they grieve this tremendous loss. Dani, you were so deeply loved and will be greatly missed. Fly high now, sweet girl.

There is never enough time with the ones who leave paw prints on our hearts. Today, I share Molly's love letter to her beloved Rogue, who passed away peacefully at the remarkable age of 17.5 years. So many blessed years of unwavering loyalty, quiet companionship, countless memories, and a love that can never be measured.

My heart goes out to Molly as she grieves the loss of such an extraordinary friend. While the pain of saying goodbye is immense, the love they shared will always remain. It lives on in cherished memories, in the stories Molly tells, and in the bond that even death cannot erase.

Run free at the Rainbow Bridge, sweet Rogue. Thank you for a life so beautifully lived and so deeply loved. You will always be remembered. ❤️

Today, I want to take a moment to remember William “Billy” Whitaker, who passed away last Wednesday and is being laid to rest today. For more than three decades, William faced MS with quiet courage and resilience, always with Skip by his side, his partner of 38 years. As we hold his memory close, please keep Skip, along with their beloved dogs Cookie and Boomer, in your thoughts and prayers as they move through this difficult time.

Today, I share Rebecca and Bobby’s love letter to Barley, lovingly known as Moonman. Barley passed on Christmas Eve. Our hearts are with Rebecca and Bobby as they grieve this profound loss.

My deepest condolences to Holly and Michael on the passing of their beloved Kahn. It was an honor to photograph him and capture the love you shared. Kahn brought smiles to so many and even won countless dog costume pageants — a true star in every sense. May his memory bring you comfort and peace. Hugs.

Today, with a heavy heart, I share that handsome Jackson passed on Wednesday, September 17, 2025. Lauren and Joe, my deepest condolences go out to you. Jackson was more than a pet—he was family, a loyal companion, and a source of joy. May the memories you made together and the portraits we captured bring you comfort as you navigate this difficult time.

While I cherish my Before You Go – Love Letters To Senior Dogs book project, it also comes with the heartache of hearing when one of these beloved souls has crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Each goodbye reminds me how deeply these dogs are loved and how fleeting our time with them can be. I’m profoundly grateful for the honor of witnessing the incredible bond between devoted pet parents and their senior dogs—and for creating photographs that hold their memories close when words can’t ease the grief.
