Two Hyannis Brothers Arrested on Crack Co***ne Trafficking Charges | October 12, 2026

Hyannis, MA - Two brothers from Hyannis were arrested Monday morning following a month-long narcotics investigation conducted by the Barnstable Police Department.

At approximately 7:00 a.m., members of the Barnstable Police Investigative Services Division, assisted by the DEA Cape Cod Resident Office and Cape Cod Regional SWAT Team, executed a search warrant at an apartment complex in Hyannis.

The investigation focused on 27-year-old Moises Neto, who police suspected of distributing crack co***ne from the residence.

During the search, investigators recovered approximately 38.5 grams of crack co***ne, drug packaging materials, a digital scale, and nearly $3,000 in cash. Police arrested 26-year-old Douglas Neto at the residence.

Moises Neto was not present during the initial search but was later located inside a second apartment within the same complex. Police said Neto had four outstanding Massachusetts arrest warrants and an extraditable warrant from New York.

While the Cape Cod Regional SWAT Team secured the second apartment, detectives obtained an additional search warrant. Moises Neto was subsequently taken into custody without incident.

Both brothers were charged with trafficking co***ne in an amount of 36 grams or more but less than 100 grams and conspiracy to violate the Controlled Substance Act. Moises Neto also faces a fugitive from justice charge related to the New York warrant and had four outstanding Massachusetts arrest warrants.

Both men are scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday, October 13, in Barnstable District Court.

The Cape and Islands District Attorney’s Office is prosecuting the case. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

Juvenile Accused of Brandishing Handgun; Police Seize 3D-Printed “Ghost Gun” Components | October 7, 2026

Dennis, MA – Dennis Police are investigating after a juvenile allegedly brandished a handgun toward another person, leading detectives to uncover what police described as a sizeable quantity of ghost gun-related items.

Officers responded on October 6 after receiving a report that a juvenile had brandished a handgun toward a victim before fleeing the scene. No shots were fired and no injuries were reported.

Following an initial investigation, Dennis Police detectives obtained a search warrant for the juvenile’s residence.

During the search, detectives recovered multiple unfinished or partially assembled handguns with homemade frames, along with slides, magazines, triggers, springs and other internal components. Police also located tools and precision toolkits commonly used for fi***rm assembly, a 3D printer and numerous rolls of filament.

Two laptops and a cellphone were also seized as evidence.

According to Dennis Police, ghost guns lack serial numbers and can be produced using 3D-printing technology and other components, making them difficult to trace.

“This case shows how quickly and quietly these tools can make their way into a home,” Dennis Police Chief Brady said. “We are asking parents and guardians to be aware of what their children may be accessing online, what packages are being delivered, and what equipment, like 3D printers, is being used behind closed doors.”

Police said the investigation remains active and appropriate charges will be sought in consultation with the Cape and Islands District Attorney’s Office.

Because the individual involved is a juvenile, police said no further identifying information will be released.

Dennis Woman Seriously Injured After Being Struck and Pinned Under Vehicle | October 3, 2026

Dennis, MA - Just after 9 p.m. Saturday, Dennis Police responded to Fenway Road for a fall alert with no contact made.

Officers arrived and located a woman lying in the roadway who appeared to be possibly intoxicated. While officers were attending to the woman, a motorist approached and ultimately struck her, pinning her underneath the vehicle.

Dennis Fire Department responded and worked to free the woman from beneath the vehicle. After she was extricated, firefighters placed her into an ambulance and transported her to Cape Cod Gateway Airport to meet a Boston MedFlight helicopter.

Radio traffic indicated the woman sustained serious, multi-system traumatic injuries.

The circumstances leading up to the woman being struck remain under investigation by the Dennis Police Department.

Officer Ginnetty Welcomed Home Following Serious On-Duty Crash | October 1, 2026

West Barnstable, MA – Tonight, weeks after being seriously injured when he was struck by a driver charged with OUI while working a traffic detail outside the Cape Cod Melody Tent, Barnstable Police Officer Peter Ginnetty is finally home.

Community members lined the area around the First Responders Rotary and nearby overpass Thursday evening with American flags, signs, big smiles and plenty of waves as Ginnetty was driven to his home just down the street.

Ginnetty, a 19-year veteran of the Barnstable Police Department, was seriously injured on September 13 while assisting with pedestrian traffic outside the Melody Tent. Police said he suffered several serious injuries, including multiple broken bones and a significant injury to his right leg.

State Representative Steven G. Xiarhos, whose district includes the community Ginnetty serves, joined residents and first responders for Thursday night’s homecoming.

When Signal News Network asked Xiarhos what it meant to see members of the community come together in support of Ginnetty, he said, “It shows that we love the blue, we back the blue and we mean it.”

Xiarhos, a retired deputy police chief who spent decades in law enforcement before being elected to the Massachusetts House of Representatives, also spoke about his work at the State House and efforts he supports involving law enforcement and public safety.

But Thursday night, the focus was on Ginnetty, his family and welcoming the officer back home.

Asked what message he had for Ginnetty and his family, Xiarhos told SNN, “We love you, and I hope you all feel it. People were excited to see him and his family!”

For the community that has followed Ginnetty’s recovery since the night he was injured, Thursday marked a milestone in what police have said will be a long recovery.

Tonight, Officer Peter Ginnetty is home.

Man Struck by Vehicle on Route 28 Near The Crazy Rooster in Yarmouth; Off-Duty Nurses Rush to Help

Yarmouth, MA - Police and firefighters raced to The Crazy Rooster on Route 28 Saturday night after a man was struck by a motor vehicle.

Two off-duty nurses who were driving by stopped and immediately began rendering aid. According to radio traffic, the nurses reported that the man was “breathing and with a pulse.”

Yarmouth firefighters quickly treated and packaged the man before transferring him to an awaiting ambulance. He was transported to Cape Cod Hospital in unknown condition.

Route 28 was closed in the area while the Yarmouth Police Department and Barnstable County Crash Reconstruction Team investigated the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.

47-Year-Old Sandwich Man Arrested on Child Po*******hy Charges | September 18, 2026

Sandwich, MA – A 47-year-old Sandwich man was arrested Wednesday following an investigation into alleged possession and dissemination of child po*******hy, according to the Sandwich Police Department.

On September 17, Sandwich Police Detectives, with assistance from the Massachusetts State Police Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force and Massachusetts State Police STOP Team, executed a search warrant at a residence in Sandwich.

Police said the investigation began after the Massachusetts State Police ICAC Task Force received a CyberTip alleging that an online account possessed and disseminated child po*******hy. The investigation was assigned to a task force officer with the Sandwich Police Department Detective Division, and police later identified the account as allegedly belonging to 47-year-old Justin Harriman.

Following the ex*****on of the search warrant, Harriman was arrested and booked at the Sandwich Police Department on charges of:

• Possession of Child Po*******hy
• Dissemination of Child Po*******hy
• Photographing Sexual or Intimate Parts of a Child – 2 counts

Harriman was held on $10,000 cash bail and is scheduled to be arraigned Friday, September 18, at Barnstable District Court.

Police said the investigation remains ongoing.

The case is being prosecuted by the Cape & Islands District Attorney’s Office.

Rare Two-Headed Diamondback Terrapin Arrives at Cape Wildlife Center | September 17, 2026

Barnstable, MA – Staff at the Cape Wildlife Center are caring for an exceptionally rare two-headed diamondback terrapin hatchling discovered at a protected nesting site in Wellfleet.

The tiny hatchling weighs just 5.2 grams and has a rare developmental condition known as bicephaly, resulting in the terrapin having two heads.

The hatchling was brought to the Cape Wildlife Center by the Mass Audubon Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary. Veterinary staff will closely monitor its appetite, growth and behavior while learning how the animal’s two heads and body function together.

According to the Cape Wildlife Center, staff have encountered only two other cases of bicephaly during the past five years, making the hatchling an especially unusual patient.

Each case also provides veterinary staff an opportunity to better understand the anatomy and physiology of animals born with the rare condition.

For now, the little terrapin - or perhaps little terrapins - remains under close observation.

Three rescued from sinking vessel off Wareham | September 16, 2026

Wareham, MA – Three people were rescued Wednesday afternoon after their 28-foot vessel began rapidly taking on water in rough seas near Stony Point D**e.

At approximately 4:40 p.m., a mayday call was broadcast over marine VHF radio reporting a vessel in distress near the d**e. Wareham Department of Natural Resources Officers Nicholas Brogioli and Charlie Richards responded from Onset Harbor, along with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Cape Cod Canal Patrol, Wareham Fire Department, Onset Fire Rescue, TowBoatUS Cape Cod/Plymouth and another Wareham DNR patrol boat.

Wareham DNR and Army Corps crews reached the vessel about a half-mile west of Stony Point D**e and safely removed all three people. TowBoatUS took the vessel under tow, but it later overturned because of the rough conditions and its instability.

According to Wareham DNR, everyone onboard was accounted for and no injuries were reported. The boaters said a wave came over the bow near the end of the d**e, swamping the vessel. Salvage operations remained underway with TowBoatUS Cape Cod to resurface the overturned vessel.

Off-Duty Barnstable Police Officer Seriously Injured After Being Struck by Vehicle | September 13, 2026

Barnstable, MA - Police and firefighters rushed to the Cape Cod Melody Tent shortly before 10 p.m. Sunday after an off-duty Barnstable Police Officer working a traffic detail was struck by a black Ford F-150.

The officer sustained serious injuries in the crash. According to radio transmissions, Cape Cod Hospital was placed under a Priority 1 Trauma Alert as emergency crews transported the injured officer to the hospital.

The driver of the F-150 underwent field sobriety testing at the scene and reportedly struggled during the tests. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest on charges of:
• Operating Under the Influence of Liquor – 2nd Offense
• Operating Under the Influence of Liquor with Serious Injury and Negligence
• Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle

As of early Monday morning, the officer remained hospitalized at Cape Cod Hospital.

The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation by the Barnstable Police Department. Additional information, including the identity of the driver, identity of the Officer and the Officer’s current condition, has not yet been released.

White Crest Beach Closed After Massive Erosion From Flooding | September 13, 2026

Wellfleet, MA – White Crest Beach has been closed until further notice after sustaining significant damage from recent heavy rainfall and flooding, according to the Wellfleet Police Department.

Police say the beach path and surrounding dune area sustained severe damage, creating potentially hazardous and unstable conditions. Residents and visitors are being asked not to enter the closed area.

The Wellfleet Department of Public Works is aware of the damage and will assess and address the affected area as soon as conditions allow and it is safe to do so.

White Crest Beach will remain closed until further notice.

Officials are asking the public to avoid the area while crews assess the damage. Additional updates will be provided as they become available.
