Here are some shots from the roll out of the SLS rocket that will take Artemis II to the moon! Unfortunately Artemis II will not be landing on the moon, but it will make a very close flyby. This will be the first time since 1972 that humans have left Earth orbit. The Orion capsule will actually take the 4 astronauts past the moon out to a distance of 250,000 miles from Earth which will be the furthest humans have ever been!

From now until launch day, SLS will undergo testing and a wet dress rehearsal which means they will go through the entire countdown and fully fuel the rocket and then stop just short of ignition. This ensures all systems up until ignition are working properly.

This mission is scheduled to launch February 6th. But NASA doesn’t have the greatest track record of on time launches. We shall see.

WE ARE GOING BACK TO THE MOON!

SpaceX Crew 10 on their way to rendezvous with the International Space Station! Thanks Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex for giving the public a way to get this close to the launch pad! The last photo is the 1st stage booster falling through the sky on its way to make a soft touchdown at LZ-1 about 7 miles south of where it lifted off.

Crew 9 can now return once this capsule safely docks! Crew 9 will return with 2 more than it launched with. Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore were added to crew 9 after their Boeing Starliner capsule was deemed too risky to return in.

Despite what certain politicians and the mainstream media have been telling you, these 2 were never "stranded". The plan to bring them home with crew 9 was the plan since last August. Crew 9 was cut from 4 to 2 so there was room for the two that were already on the station. (just to clarify further, this plan was made during the previous administration)

Crew 9 could not return until a replacement ISS crew was onboard as well as another capsule (for use as a lifeboat in case of an emergency). The smartest way to get them home and the most budget friendly was to add them to a mission that was already planned.

NASA astronauts know the risk involved in spaceflight. Contingency plans are a must. The Boeing Starliner capsule is still in the testing phase, these astronauts knew that and they accepted all possible outcomes.

Blue Angels practicing before the air show at Jax NAS this weekend. Absolutely incredible that they flew over the house over and over.

Fun fact, the Blue Angels were formed way back in 1946 right here in Jacksonville!

Comet C/2023 A3 over the St. Johns river and a long exposure on Jacksonville Beach of a Falcon 9 rocket delivering another batch of Starlink satellites to low earth orbit.

This batch included several "direct-to-cell" versions for their partnership with T-Mobile to work on getting rid of dead zones. Imagine that, the ability to send a text from anywhere on the planet and in theory, even from space!

Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be able to witness a launch. But here I am.

This is the Crew-9 mission launched by SpaceX from SLC-40 at Cape Canaveral carrying astronaut Nick Hague and Russian cosmonaut Aleksandr Gorbunov. Some of you may have read in the news that 2 astronauts are stuck on the ISS due to a malfunctioning Boeing Starliner capsule. This mission was originally supposed to carry another 4 astronauts to the ISS but was changed to just a 2 person crew to accommodate the 2 stranded astronauts Barry Wilmore and Sunita Williams upon its return to Earth.

One image is the Falcon 9 (this booster specifically named B1085) rocket powered by 9 Merlin engines with the crew capsule "Freedom" on top.

The other photo (with trees in the foreground) is the booster making its return landing at LZ-1 just a couple miles south of where it launched from. Notice it is missing the crew capsule, as that is obviously now on its way to the ISS!
