Today In KISStory...

42 years ago today, 7/18/1979, The ABC-TV news program "20/20" interviews KISS associates Carl Glickman and Bill Aucoin, as well as the band just before KISS plays the first of two SOLD OUT nights at Richfield Coliseum in Cleveland, Ohio. The concert footage that is shown comes from this concert.

The interview itself airs later in 1979.

20/20 host Hugh Downs describes a KISS show as "Halloween and the 4th of July rolled into one!"

According to the interview, in 1978 KISS had retail sales of over 117 million dollars, 60 million in album sales, 40 million in merchandise and the remaining in songwriting royalties etc.
