Being a great photographer has very little to do with having the most expensive gear or knowing every camera setting.
Honestly, there are a LOT of talented photographers out there.
What makes someone stand out is often how they make people feel.
Confidence matters because your couples are looking to you for direction. Wedding days can feel stressful and emotional, and when you stay calm, confident, and reassuring, people relax. They trust you. They feel taken care of.
And kindness matters just as much.
The wedding industry is built on relationships. The way you treat planners, DJs, coordinators, second shooters, guests, parents, and other vendors matters more than people realize. People remember the photographer who was encouraging, patient, easy to work with, and genuinely caring.
The truth is, both confidence and kindness take practice.
Most photographers are not naturally confident when they start. You build confidence by showing up over and over again, learning from mistakes, and trusting yourself a little more each wedding.
You do not have to be the loudest person in the room to lead well.
You just need to be kind, prepared, calm under pressure, and confident enough to serve people well.
That’s the kind of photographer people remember And the kind I strive to be. 💛
