For those who have worked with me and noticed I have been weirdly absent for a while......here is an update.

Last June I went to the ER with excruciating pain in my left foot and ankle and came out with a walking boot and orders from management to go on medical leave. It took until September to see the podiatrist, October to get the MRI, and November to actually have surgery.

I had torn 2 tendons that run along the arch of the foot up into the ankle by stepping off a curb during Mardi Gras and thinking it was only a sprain. I continued working at our regular hectic pace until my ankle and foot blew up like a balloon and I couldn't ignore it anymore.

I am now released for light duty work and will be evaluated in a month to return home to all you guys at Universal Orlando Park Services People (Past and Present) . I love working at the parks and miss all of the team members I have gotten to know over the past 3 years. Thanks for the words of support from management....the physical support of Lala in JP and Joey at Voodoo....the emotional support of everyone... And last but not least....Universal Orlando for keeping my spot available for me to return to.

Hey everybody....know it's been a while...but a lot has been going on. As some know, I had to go on medical leave in June due to a foot injury. Today I got bad news on how bad it really is.
I have 2 torn tendons and will definitely need surgery. There may need to be plates and screws added to realign my heel bone as well. Surgery will be done on November 19th and I will have a minimum of 8 weeks no weight bearing on that foot.
My life is such a soap opera sometimes.
I will try to come to the parks and see y' all as much as I can. Till then....keep up the good work y'all do. Love my Universal family!!

Just an update....if you need a walking boot to get around, make sure it's close toed and certified as slip resistant for Universal. I have to now get either a different boot or take time off longer than I can really afford. Also make sure all doctor's notes are very explicit on time frames for time off work and/or restricted duty. This ⬇ type is not accepted at work.

Hey TMs.....just a reminder....NEVER treat a bruise, cut or sprain lightly....it could be worse than you first think. About 2 months ago I THOUGHT I had a minor sprain and treated it as such with ice, a brace, and pain killers but kept on working and not getting it looked at. Today I ended up at Lake Nona VAMC ER with pain I could no longer ignore. That MINOR sprain has become a possible torn ligament or tendon and I have to wear a walking boot until I can be seen by a Podiatrist.

INJURIES ARE NO JOKE! Take care of your body as you do your job and be aware of your surroundings. Know your body and get any unusual twinge or pain looked at as soon as possible.

For those who already know....and those who didn't....Trainer Laura from PS had surgery today. It went very well and she's at home resting now. She'll be back in action in about a week. Cheers to a swift recovery and minimal scarring. I will be staying with her tonight and tomorrow..... Joseph Wolfe from VooDoo will be taking the Sunday shift. Thanks for the well wishes and prayers in advance. The UO family rocks!!
