Pov: the inspo is USVI carnival!
USVI Carnival traces its roots back to the Caribbean’s emancipation celebrations after slavery was abolished in 1848. Formerly enslaved people took to the streets with music, dancing, and masquerades to celebrate freedom and cultural identity.
St. Thomas revived these traditions with what is now known as St. Thomas Carnival, blending African, European, and Caribbean influences. Today it’s one of the most vibrant festivals in the Caribbean—featuring parades, moko jumbie stilt walkers, calypso and soca music, and food fairs.
More than a festival, Carnival is a celebration of heritage, resilience, and Virgin Islands pride!
