It’s safe to say that my own kids are my trickiest clients. Before ordering these 16” square canvases from I made sure that my kids signed off on the photos I used. I love getting them involved in the process…they helped pick out their outfits and even had the idea for the location. They all felt more invested in the photos, which made our little photo shoot go more smoothly. Have you ever enlisted help from your kids in prepping for a photo session? What’s worked for you?

One of the main reasons I took up photography (as a hobby, initially) was so I could take better photos of my kids. This week has been a payoff of that as I took photos for my daughter’s dance team and am putting together the slideshow for my other daughter’s soccer team. Being able to provide memories for my daughters and their teammates and their teammates’ families…that just brings me joy!

Dance photos have sure changed since I was in high school! Anyone else remember the days of cheesy backdrops in the school cafeteria? I was lucky enough to take photos for my daughter’s prom group this past weekend. Since they were all dressed up, I took some individual photos as well. They had such a fun time! I’m so glad I could be a small part of it.

I love this modern, minimalistic look for kids’ portraits! I had this cutie and her sister in for some quick photos last week and I just love how they turned out. Little ones don’t have a lot of patience for fussy photos, so a clean backdrop and a short session works really well for capturing personalities of all types.
