I'm pleased with the sale last week of this painting, one of my favorites inspired by prehistoric cave art. I'm considering the sale a fine omen as I'm finally getting my studio back in shape after months of chaos. The big water/sewer project in our old Victorian house began in March, starting off with jackhammering the basement concrete floor of my studio/workshop ~ meaning I had to dismantle my creative workspace, and just this week have been able to put things back in order. Yay!
Meanwhile, my little Etsy shop is pretty depleted and only yesterday was I able to once again start actually painting again. (I must admit that the "time off" gave me a fine opportunity to contemplate and focus my creative direction, which is a good thing.)
I derived this particular painting from the famous "Panel of Horses" in France's Chauvet Cave. My cave-inspired paintings are based on prehistoric images found in caves in France and Spain, many dating back 37,000 years. I've studied these remarkable images for years, fascinated by the way shaman artists captured the spirit of Paleolithic beasts who shared their world.
