Unpopular opinion:
You can support other photographers and still succeed.
You can support other photographers and still choose a different one to take your photos.
I’ve used several photographers for my own photos. It depends on the style I’m going for or honestly their availability. I comment on other photographer’s posts, I reshare their posts, I RECOMMEND them to people. If I’m not confident in the session style requested, I send you to someone who will be.
I will never understand why that is such a bad thing? Photography in a small town doesn’t have to be a competition, but unfortunately people make it seem like it is. Small businesses co-exist everywhere and people have their preferences. There is nothing wrong with that.
I’m just a girl who picked up a camera to give myself a creative outlet and take a breather from working so much overtime. Somehow, that little creative outlet has grown into a business, and along the way, my skills have grown right alongside it.
Photography is a constant learning curve. I pour my heart into every session, and I’m definitely hard on myself when things don’t turn out exactly how I envisioned them. But I’m learning to appreciate the beauty in photography… not every session has to look the same, and not every image has to be perfect.
Every session is a chance to create, learn, grow, and tell someone’s story in a way that’s uniquely theirs. I’m so thankful I get to do that and I’m so thankful for the people who have supported me 🤎🤎
***Edit for clarification.. there was not a specific reason or encounter for making this post. I was scrolling through tik tok and seen a photographer talking negatively about “their client” supporting another photographer. That is the ONLY reason for this post.
