With the 2022 racing season in the books i wanted to provide an update on the year and look forward to 2023.
As many of you might have noticed, i was absent the last half of the season (and this page went dormant) and i want to explain why to those of you who may not have known.
In June i began having difficulty breathing when walking alot ( chalked it up to age and lack of exercise..) But it got to the point where i went to the hospital to get it checked out. Well it took about a dozen doctors visits and tests from July thru September to rule certain things out ( Cancer, heart disease, etc..) and understand that i am dealing with inflammation in my lungs. No reason that it happened, it may go away by itself but i may also have to live with it long term - time will tell. Basically - when i walk a short distance or have to deal with stairs or hills - i need to take a break as im out of breath. I wait 5-10 minutes, im better - but over the course of a saturday at the track im exhausted. I tried to give it a go on night 2 of the Blaise Alexander Memorial Race and i left before the features because i was worn out.
I let the track know that i need to take a step back next year until i see where im at come spring time and see if i have any improvement. With that being said- i need to send a huge shout out to Alissa K Miller Photography and On The Fly Photo for taking care of the photography for the track - they stepped up big time and it was greatly appreciated.
And i want to sincerely thank everyone for their friendship at the track - the racing community is simply like no other - everyone accepted this knucklehead who knows nothing about cars and treated me like family right from the get go - and for that - i will be forever grateful..
I will definitely be around in 2023 - hopefully once or twice a month - maybe with the camera - maybe without. I am truly blessed that the doctors consider my condition 'treatable' - and hopefully i'll back to full speed sooner than later.
Hopefully i'll see y'all at the track in the spring :-)
