I'm going to step out of my pages boundary for a minute and make a post as who I am outside of this page. Long post ahead.
I would just like to address something with all of my clients & followers, that has needed to be said for a while.
When I started doing this, it came from a place of love. I have loved photography since I was a small child. I also love helping people out, so why not collaborate both of those things together?
I am a single mother & also a college student full time. I live on a very hectic schedule.
Therefore, I do these sessions on my FREE time, not because I have to. Not to mention my mother's free time as well, lol. I do not depend on this page to earn a living. The money is just kind of a bonus & a security blanket to ensure my time isnt wasted between paying for gas to drive to a session, the hours i spend on editing, the time it takes to shoot a session, the fee I have to pay to use editing software, etc.
I do these sessions fairly cheap, because I know what its like to want pictures of your babies, family, life events, milestones, whatever it may be, but yet not be able to pay hundreds for an hour session. I always work with my clients & if someone cant afford what they want, I will almost always talk it out & deliver a solution if its a genuine issue for someone to afford one of my packages.
Being able to have photos done by a professional is a luxury. Thats just a given fact. I however, am not a professional. Even though I have took the time to go through training, bought software & equipment, & spent endless hours learning about the science of it all and how to edit, I AM NOT A PROFESSIONAL. I did not go to school for this, it is not my major or even a minor in my degree plan!
I simply do this as a HOBBY. I do this to HELP the people who want to squeeze in a photo shoot here & there without going broke. I will ALWAYS work with you on payments, rescheduling, whatever it may be!
We live in a very hard economy right now. I understand Scott County is not a place of wealth. Income is low, most people with children just simply do not have the money to pay for professional family photos. I have been one of those parents before. It really is that important to me that I have pictures of my babies, and I know most mothers feel the same. This page is dear to my heart because I knew from the start I can give that AFFORDABLY alongside every other type of session!
With all of that being said, if you want 100% professional pictures, where you can have your makeup edited on, or where they can take 60 lbs off of you or give you a magazine worthy photo, you need to hire a PROFESSIONAL.
I have my own editing style. While I do desperately want every single client that comes to me 100% satisfied, I am just an amateur & I edit the way I lile to edit. I do understand that I cannot please everyone, even professionals struggle with that.
Although I try to keep this page as professional as possible (despite being a hobby), sometimes I do make mistakes & I will ALWAYS try to make those mistakes right by you in some way whether it be re editing once or twice, or giving a discount for another session etc. Wether it be an editing mistake, a misunderstanding of booking, whatever, I will make it right if you can just talk to me like an adult and not a small child.
I do however provide HIGH QUALITY photos. You will 100% get back clear, good quality colored photos from me. BUT once again I do not provide professional photos & never claimed to. Therefore, again, do not hire me if you expect insane services such as photoshop, or are going to nitpick every little detail, down to tiny little things that I cant fix without a degree & $4k+ equipment.
Since starting this, most of my clients have been nothing but supportive & loving. I love everyone that has came to me & I appreciate the opportunity to be a part of so many lives & precious moments.
But some people have not been so nice. I have been bullied, pushed around, talked to like a dog & the audacity of people to ask some of the things they ask me has been insane. Not to mention there are people who will use my kindness as a manipulation tactic. Im free hearted, not stupid lol.
Yall, I do these photos relatively cheap. When you pay me, you're really only paying for my time. I dont charge much because I love doing this. I love helping people out. I also try to give an extremely fast turn around time, granted having such a hectic schedule. I quiet often find myself giving more pictures than I advertise in a package, or find myself spending a little extra time than offered to make sure we get good shots. I often work with people & let them do payments, or I can accommodate a special package just so someone can have pictures done in their budget, if its under what I ask for a basic package. I really am trying here 😅
Yall I LOVE YOU. I whole heartedly adore every face that steps infront of my camera.
BUT I am also putting my foot down. From now on, if you cross a boundary with me, I will block you. I have the right to do so & I will use that right. If you message me with a terrible attitude, trying to boss me around & tell me how to do things, (especially after I have done my work and sent you your pictures) I will absolutely block you and move along. I do not have to tolerate anyone being harsh to me & I will not. You also wont get a refund by complaining. If I dont deliver your pictures or I just royally mess them up (lol), sure. But I have yet to do so.
I have also been harassed because I didn't have photos back the next day, and let me just say I spend HOURS editing each photo. I dont slap a filter on them and send them back to you. I made it known from the start that I wanted to make high quality sessions affordable for people. Not filtered trash. I do however strive not to make clients wait 2 weeks because as an impatient person I understand lol. But sometimes im just a little slower because my kids needs & personal life do come first.
Photography is a form of art. You will never find one specific photographers work in another. Even at that, no session is ever the exact same. Thats the beauty of it.
I could go on forever on this post because theres so many things I could say, because some of you all are just down right ugly to have the audacity to hire someone who provides you with a $300 service for a quarter of that price, and then talk to them like they are your servant simply because YOU don't like the way you fixed your hair that day or your shirt was too tight lol.
But for those of my people that let me do what I love & appreciate me, the love & appreciation is reciprocated in great depths. You all are some of the most wonderful people I have ever met.
Some days are hard, and some days people make me want to lock my camera away because as stated, people sure can be ugly. But I will move past the sessions with unkind people & I will continue to do what I love. 🫶
