Every year, Nebraska Wedding Day gathers hundreds of vendors in a room to celebrate the work we do every day. We get to recap and witness the best designs of the year, installations, florals, and everything in between. To be in a room with the most creative people in our local industry catches my breath every time. To be asked to not only attend but to be the photographer for the event was a humbling highlight of my year.
The main event of the night is an awards ceremony. Nominations are first made by the public: friends, family, clients. The top five nominations for each category are then voted on, solely by wedding vendors, to pick the winner. To be chosen by your peers makes the awards extra special. I was awarded Nebraska’s Best Destination Wedding Photographer. Frankly, I can’t type that without tearing up. I am overjoyed. Thank you. 🤍✨
My peers and family know this week was very eventful for my family. From a PR’d Ironman and singing in front of 85,000 people for my husband, to international trips and 9 days away for work for me. Destination weddings are as beautiful and joy filled as they look. And, behind every single image is a mom who just got off a plane, misses her babies, and edits after bed time and before the sun is up. It’s not lost on me how much every family in the wedding industry sacrifices — especially mine — to make dreams come true for the people around us. I love you more than words Col, Caden, and Callie. 🫶🏼
If I can leave you with anything: Take more photos with your loved ones. Breathe. Be present. Remember. Enjoy. ✨🤍
