Photography has been a hobby of mine since I received my first camera in junior high – a Kodak Instamatic with a 110-film cartridge. Retirement has allowed more time for me to pursue this hobby. Some have said it’s a passion; I suppose that’s a pretty accurate description. With each photo, I try to learn something so that I can make the NEXT photo even better. At the end of the day, I just enjoy t

aking pictures – everything from squirrels to eagles, from a farmer’s field to an abandoned building. To borrow a line from Rod Stewart, every picture tells a story.

A few things of note on this picture...
1) The hawk has a garter snake in its talon
2) It's windy today. The hawk was not landing. The wind had just blown it off its perch
3) I was driving down the road and saw the hawk go after something in someone's yard. I immediately pulled over to see if I could get a shot. The hawk flew up to that tree.
4) The wind has been insane today, so it was a challenge for both the hawk and me, and finally...
