I’m soooo excited to share that I’m going to be teaming up with none other than 🐮 for National Ice Cream Day this year!

THIS Sunday, July 20th, from 12:30-2:30pm, I will be offering FREE kids portraits while they enjoy a melty delicious ice cream cone at the Briggs location.

If you’ve known me for a while, you know that I’m a major ice cream lover, and Humble Cow Ice Cream is my favorite local spot here in Olympia!

You’ll also know that I love when kids are allowed to get messy, because that’s what makes for the best photos. So what better portrait could there be than kids eating drippy, melty ice cream? That’s a perfect pair if you ask me!  It will be first come first served, so there’s no time slot to sign up for. All you need to do is add it to your weekend plans, come say hi on the Sunday, get a free portrait of your adorable kiddos, and enjoy some ice cream!

The more fun I have just taking photos of flowers and light and color, just to make some art, the better my work seems to get overall 🌸

I know I should post more photos of families, but I think we all need more flower photos too! 💐

Here in Olympia, when the sun comes out in the Spring, you just have to go out and enjoy it!

Even if it only lasts 10 minutes before the next downpour… it’s still so worth it!

P.S. I’m always telling people not to have their kids wear shirts with recognizable characters for photos, but I love Bluey and Bingo, peeking out behind the paints in these! 👀 Then again, I’m pretty obsessed with Bluey myself… who’s with me?

The perfect early Christmas present for this family 💝

Newborn sessions with the *first* baby are so calm and chill compared to the (wonderful) chaos of newborn sessions with 1, 2, or 3+ siblings!

My process is still the same though. Your baby can eat, sleep, have diaper changes, cry, snuggle, repeat and it’s all welcome. They’re always 2 hours long so that no one feels stressed. They’re always at home where diaper changes are easy and everyone feels the most comfortable. They’re also always fun!

You guuuuyyyyssss! This is my first carousel post. Ever! I’m fumbling my way through this and it definitely took me waaaaay too long to make. I also saw something about how carousels are so 2015... so... not sure what that means! I’m just going to do my own thing over here!

Since it’s starting to get really chilly outside, I thought I’d channel this summertime warmth from one of my favorite at-home sessions of the year. This is what I mean when I say that playing with your kids and actually having fun is how we get the best photos!

Who wants to see another carousel post from yours truly? Any guesses how long it will take me to make the next one?

I almost always have my camera with me, even when I’m not at a formal session. Always doing personal work keeps my client work interesting and I think it makes me more creative!

My love for photography started in the darkroom with black and white film. I don’t know if that still exists in the majority of universities, but there’s truly no feeling like it! There’s a particular smell (yea potentially hazardous but we’ll not dwell), a sense of calm, a sense of excitement. Your phone is out of sight because you don’t want extra light introduced into the environment.

Then, as if by magic, 🪄 images appear on the pages and you have delightful photographs taking various baths... ok that sounds slightly weird now that I wrote it out, but it’s also true!

I took a break from film for a while, but thanks to I’ve been photographing with it a lot recently (just for fun), and I’ve noticed the coolest thing that’s happening! The more I use film for personal work, the more it’s been informing my client work. There’s an entirely different pace, a different feeling, a different vibe. I just love it!

Heyyyy! Well friends, it's time for a re-introduction. I'm Alice! Odds are, you already know me, but maybe you're new around here, so you should know that my name is pronounced in Italian: Ah-li-ché! It's easier to pronounce when you include the exclamation at the end!

Slide 1 is a self portrait through a mirror full of dirty handprints. ✋🏻

Slide 2 features an excellent lizard named Pompoujiba, who helped me keep a four year old entertained throughout an entire family session. 🦎

Slide 3 is a shadowy self portrait with my littlest kid (see if you can spot him). 👟

Slide 4 is a bouquet of tulips because flowers and light and photography make me happy. 🌷

I was going through my archives recently and found this snapshot of my favorite car, the Fiat 500 in Paris several years ago. My mom must have snapped the picture of me taking this very image (slide 2) with her phone! Somehow this is the first time I'm seeing them side by side.

It's amazing how even the most simple of snapshots can bring us right back to a place and a time in our lives.

Since I have been off of Instagram for a while, and the algorithm may not be in my favor because of it (eek!), comment with a 🥐 or a 🐿️ to show that you're seeing this!

Yesterday my son woke up and said "okay Mommy, it's time to make cookies for Santa!" That's how it works in our house - the day after Thanksgiving is immediately Christmas. It was true the day after Halloween too. So basically it's just always Christmas here! 🤪

Don't forget to shop small this holiday season! I'm sure all the Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals are overwhelming your inbox and feed, but it's Small Business Saturday and shopping small and local really does make a huge difference to your community!

Hellooooo! This post is just to say Yes! I'm still here! 🌟 I have been off of Instagram for a little while, but I am still working (in my busy season in fact!), documenting growing families, making family heirlooms (albums and prints), and talking with kids about potty humor to make them laugh.

I really think it's so amazing and such a gift that I get to make *actual* family heirlooms for people. However... I haven't made my own family's 2022 album yet (gulp!) 😬 but I will! Hopefully... my goal is to do it before 2024! Like I said, this is the busy season!
