Hey mamas, this is for you! If you’re like me, you have lots of photos of your kids and your children with your husband/partner, but not many of just you with your kids (or at least not ones you love!). You pour into them every day, and deserve to have beautiful memories of this time in your life and the loving, playful connection you share with your children🤍

I’m offering motherhood sessions April 18 and 19, and I have a few spots left! I’d love to document the love between you and your children. These sessions are perfect for expecting moms, moms with little or big kids, grandmas, and even moms with their mothers! I know it’s been way too long since I’ve had a photo with my mother🤍

For more info or to book a session, see the link in the comments. I’d love to see you!

A mentor asked me recently, “What’s different about your approach to photographing babies and children than the photographer down the street?”
*
My initial thoughts were…
I photograph in a studio, I have a minimalistic style, I offer printed artwork, I’m great with kids, etc. But as I thought more, I realized something that deeply impacts my approach.
*
As a mom of teens/young adults, I’ve seen my kids grow and become more of who they are year by year. It’s been the most amazing experience of my life. I have a reverence for the journey, and a perspective that helps me know the little and big things that are most meaningful to photograph.
*
It’s not the “perfect photo” that parents want, it’s photographs that show their child’s mannerisms, expressions and budding personality, and the little details that will one day bring them instantly back to the child they knew and loved at that stage. And when their kids are grown, like mine, they will look at the photos and say, “Oh, hello there! You were who you are now from the very beginning!”

Welcoming a new baby into the family is a joyful time and also a time of adjustment for everyone. Roles are shifting, attention is divided differently, and the needs of the baby generally come first.
*
When I was expecting my second baby, I remember wondering how this new little one would impact my time with my first child and how he’d feel about the new baby. My son was used to our routines and having my attention to himself. How could I be there in the same way for him once the new baby arrived?
*
It’s funny, though. Somehow it all works out. While time doesn’t expand, love does, and you learn to be there in the ways they both need. It can be bumpy at the beginning, and sometimes the baby cries a little longer than you’d like or the toddler gets impatient, but soon you’ll find a new rhythm, and it’ll be hard to imagine life without two kids.
*
And as a mom, the BEST part is when you see the deep love they have for each other in the quiet moments and as they play together when they get a little older. There’s nothing quite like it, and it melts your heart in ways you never knew possible🤍
*
If you have more than one child, how was the adjustment of going from 1-2 for you? Or from 2-3? Were you surprised by anything? I’d love to hear!

My approach to newborn photography is very intentional. It’s about capturing the little details you never want to forget. The ones that will bring back the emotions of what it was like during the early days with your baby, learning about each other and what it means to love someone you’ve just met with your whole heart.
*
Of the thousands of photos you’ll have of your child throughout the years, the first ones will always be some of the most special. As a mom of three, I can say this with 100% certainty, and it’s why I take utmost care in the work that I do. They’re not *just* photos, they’re so much more.

If you’d like information about newborn portraits, DM me or inquire through my website. I’d love to help you document this fleeting time!

I love helping moms celebrate their pregnancy with simple, modern studio portraits. We talk about clothing and their vision for the session beforehand, which helps us get to know each other and ensures we both feel well-prepared when the session day arrives. During the session, I provide direction with posing, so it’s a comfortable and fun experience! You don’t need to have any experience in front of the camera, I promise! And best of all, we create beautiful artwork to enjoy and treasure forever!

Every age is the perfect age for portraits! While I specialize in newborns, I absolutely love toddlers and young children, too. They’re so fun to be around! They’re curious and smart, and so honest!

Sessions with me are on their timeline, never rushed. I love getting to know them and finding out what gets them excited!
*
I encourage parents to bring their favorite stuffed animals, books or loveys to make the portraits even more meaningful 🤍

There’s something so special about the first few weeks with a new baby, when you’re getting to know each other and figuring out life together. I remember the overwhelming awe and wonder mixed with so many other emotions (namely exhaustion!).
*
I don’t know how else to describe it but as a “postpartum fog”. For me, the fog began to lift around 6-8 weeks after birth. And when it did, I looked at my baby and wondered what happened to the tiny little newborn that curled up so perfectly in my arms just a few short weeks ago. “Was he really that small?”, I asked myself. Now he was smiling, cooing and figuring out new things every day!
*
I promise when you come in for a newborn session, I’ll make it easy and comfortable, and you’ll end up with beautiful portraits that show your love and connection, and that will always remind you of the sweet beginning🤍
*
If you’d like to find out more about newborn sessions with me, send me a DM or fill out the contact form on my website. I’d love to photograph your growing family!

Sometimes newborn photos don’t happen in the first few weeks, and that’s ok. Occasionally I gets calls from new moms who are worried they “missed out” on that window of time.
*
Maybe they’re beginning to come out of the early postpartum fog and realize their baby is growing so fast before their eyes! Or they had a NICU stay, breastfeeding struggles, or needed extra time to recover after delivery.
*
It’s ok! Your baby will never be as small as they are today, so now’s a great time for those first portraits! They may not be as sleepy or “curly”, but we will create some beautiful portraits of how they look right now (the baby in this post was 2 months old).
