For the past 17 years, I have had the incredible honor of working as a wedding photographer. Unfortunately, this past month marked my final season photographing weddings professionally. While this decision has been heartbreaking, my health no longer allows me to continue in the capacity my couples deserve.
Over the last year, I was only physically able to photograph about half of my scheduled weddings due to frequent hospitalizations. I am deeply grateful to my second shooter, who graciously stepped in time and time again to ensure my couples were cared for so beautifully.
Many of you may not know that three years ago this month, I underwent emergency bowel surgery and died on the operating table. I lost nearly 30 feet of bowel and colon, leaving me with only 140 cm remaining. I spent three weeks on life support, followed by time in a coma. Since then, I have endured nearly a dozen surgeries, countless ICU stays, six cases of sepsis, and now permanently receive nutrition through my heart because my body can no longer absorb food properly.
Despite all of this, I am incredibly thankful that I was able to continue doing what I love for as long as I did. The fact that I was able to photograph weddings for the past three years after everything that happened is something I can only attribute to God’s grace.
At this point, I can no longer guarantee my availability, and it would not be fair to my couples to continue booking weddings. While closing this chapter is deeply emotional for me, I remain grateful for every couple, every family, and every moment I have had the privilege to capture over the years.
If my health allows, I hope to continue second shooting from time to time in the future. Thank you all for your support, kindness, and trust throughout my career. It has meant more to me than words can express.
