At 1612 on Saturday February 10, 2024, Allegany Fire Department was alerted to a structure fire at 35 East Main Street in the village. Cattaraugus County Deputy 4 was near the scene and confirmed a working fire. Allegany FD made an aggressive interior attack and limited the fire to a room and contents. Due to multiple obstructions Tower 6 had to be repositioned multiple times to assist with exterior/roof ops. AREMS transported one occupant for smoke inhalation after rescuing the neighbors dog and one firefighter for burns to his ear. Multiple mutual aid departments assisted on scene and with standby's. AFD Fire Investigation Team has determined the fire to be accidental in nature.
