Bump caps! Ever hear of them?

Jon Hage gave myself and a tour of the ’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility outside of Milwaukee, WI and it was incredible - filled with enormous paint booths, testing bays, and precision machinery that you would expect to see at NASA. Of course, he showed us the most beautiful concrete pumping trucks and telebelts we have ever seen - as well as the concrete pumping which set the world record for highest elevation pumped in support of the construction of the .

As part of the tour, Jon gave us bump caps to wear underneath some gifted baseball caps, keeping our heads safe, comfortable, and fashionable while inside the manufacturing facility. I still have mine!

Here’s a valuable tip for shooting a construction video - get to the site a couple of hours early - you can capture some really cool things which add greatly to your video! You may even find something extra surprising, like the surfers I found while heading up to New Hampshire for a concrete shoot!

I broke out the FX6, and both drones to get some key shots of them. They were so close to the concrete site that I just couldn’t resist putting them in the video. You never know what you’ll find!

This massive and strange looking ship is the GPO Grace, moored south of the Claiborne Pell/Newport Bridge in Rhode Island. Its enormous towers and shiny blue hull are difficult to miss.

This ship is a heavy load carrier sailing under the flag of the Marshall Islands. She has been tasked with supporting the Revolution Wind project several miles off of the coast, but sits idle as she await orders to continue work.

The $5 billion project was halted in December 2025 due to national security concerns over radar interference. In January 2026, a federal judge struck down the order, allowing construction to continue.
