9/29/11 - Flashback 10 years ago to the start of my corporate career... in a hard hat. Before selfies became and thing and was cool. Memorable experience at doing the things I love, enjoying great co-workers, events, and experiences. Got my hands dirty during this renovation, but now I can visit the garden and know exactly what equipment I set up and installed around the entire arena.

I miss all the historic moments at Madison Square Garden. Fortuitous that the time I was there the made the the playoffs twice after a 10 year drought.

to the opening friday of on 9/3 with my cousins at Lincoln Center 13! Though the movie was great and performed well in the box office opening weekend, I’m a little disappointed by the lacking of fanfare for such a blockbuster movie in NYC. Pandemic and event planning aside, the West Coast seemed to pay homage to the local Asian communities. It still feels like we’re outsiders on the East Coast. how was the NYC premiere at Union Square? It didn’t seem that extravagant.

I’ve been to countless red carpet premieres for movies (two other smaller in the last two months around Lincoln Center) at this theater and other nearby venues, but I could barely find a large or prominent movie poster around the theater. I was insulted that the theater had no poster in the front of the venue, only a tiny poster in a corner by the box office and a glare ridden case upstairs. Meanwhile I walked by two wall-size backdrops for Su***de Squad and Dune. I know it factors on promotional budget, but the disparity was clear.

Movie drops digitally on on November 12, but I recommend still seeing it in theaters prior! Worth the big screen experience for the unique visuals and action.

THANK YOU to my cousin for thinking of me an inviting me to the movie premiere. His hard work with and connections in the film industry is how I was fortunate to enjoy another experience of artistry in NYC.

An internet troll looked at my profile yesterday and replied to my comment about gentrification in NYC that I’m a “rich boy” that is “what is wrong about this world.” First time ever being called rich, but this morning had me taking that comment in stride.

I am RICH. My life is RICH with an abundance of family and friends who care, acknowledge my presence/contributions, and are the reason for so many wonderful experiences in my life. I’m RICH with knowledge and wisdom passed on to me by my predecessors and resulting from thousands of hours of research and exploring. I’m RICH with opportunities because of the daily hustle to be noticed, make an impact, and treated as an equal. Guaranteed most of the people know my name or who I am because I showed up and presented myself as an asset, not because I was given any attention or respect by default.

I engage and call out the trolls, because they exemplify the condescension I get frequently (virtually and in-person) from Caucasian-identifying men and women who call me boy or other derogatory titles (I have receipts), make fun of my last name, or speak to me as if I’m foreign by default (and shame me as if it’s a bad thing). If someone doesn’t call them out, their behavior will continue. If you know me I don’t mind a battle of wits over fists and being a keyboard warrior in debates.

Jokes aside, the real reason I was at the historic Wednesday night was for the world premiere of The Many Saints of , presented in the new Tribeca Fall Preview showcase of .

I was excited to see the final cut of this movie, as I watched it several years ago as part of a private screening, looking for feedback from audiences on how to organize the footage and scenes.

I wish I wasn’t so far removed from watching random episodes of ’s The Sopranos when I was a teen. Hard to remember certain characters and references! As I walked in I recognized and made eye contact with . I didn’t want to bother her so I didn’t say anything, but of course moments after some guy yells out her name and she gets mobbed for photos.

Nigel and Rey in front of St. Patrick’s Cathedral.

Felt so much pressure to photograph the legendary and the inspiring Make-A-Wish alum at last night’s Seeing Color Again event at - Didn’t want to mess up in front of a published and iconic photographer 😅. I had only met Nigel with his family as a volunteer at other non-profit events, first time with me behind the lens.

Regardless of my nerves, last night was amazing. With the efforts and charisma of Rey and Nigel on the microphone, and the generous donations of supporters and board members, was able to raise $580K! Nigel was hilariously entertaining as a host and auctioneer.

Glad some of the photos were worthy enough to post for a good cause. I hope I can continue my photography and career path and make an impact like all the inspiring individuals last night! 🥺

These two steel “Tridents” you see when entering and leaving the , are remnants of the facade of the original World Trade Center buildings. I look to these artifacts as a symbol of resiliency of New Yorkers. You can attack us and change the way we live our daily lives, but as you can see in the background we will rebuild and come back bigger and stronger. You tried to debilitate us and attack our freedom/way of life, instead we came together with Hope, Unity, and Strength. You don’t want any smoke from New York City.

First time seeing these beams up close, I vaguely remember seeing the facade of the original WTC as a kid. Those beams are still magnificent to this day.

Such a fitting photo for my brand last night at our Fundraiser at the Speakeasy in . Great work by and team to put it all together!

Photo features a generous portion of the Jambalaya, solid option - rice and proteins cooked well and moist, but could have used more spice and flavor

Happy belated Dad. Mom found what I think is our last photo together before you got sick and passed. I’m glad I was there to see you away from the winter gloom of NYC and stress-free in your happy place tanning under the sun. I had finally swayed you to want to start traveling, so I wish it could have been more than one trip. I always wanted to bring you to Italy for the “real pasta” I would always tote.

This was the first and only trip I got to convince and treat my dad to before he was diagnosed with Stage IV Pancreatic Cancer. He was always hesitant to travel because of his back pains, bad joints, and motion sickness. I convinced him with the philosophy “you’re going to be in pain and complain regardless where you are - would you rather complain about your bad back and shoulder back at home or in a tropical paradise with perfect weather?” I’d rather be in pain and still enjoy my time with a picturesque sunset.

I flew my parents to Aruba and handled all the logistics/planning, so all they had to do was enjoy the hotel, beaches, and sun. It was over Superbowl weekend, and I left a day early to come back and watch the game. When they returned to New York City they mentioned how they had such a relaxing time and enjoyed meeting other people that they considered staying additional days.
