I meaaannn, how much cuter does it get!! ✏️📚🍎

Back to School Minis are happening September 12, and I am SO excited about this little setup!!

These minis are meant to capture your kiddos in their current stage - missing teeth, growing way too fast, and full of all the personality that comes with a brand new school year! All the little things you'll be shocked have changed by the time May rolls around.

Have them bring along a favorite book, or even something special that represents what they're loving about school right now! I'll provide the pencils and paper!

FAQ: ✨When should I book my maternity and newborn photos?✨

For maternity sessions, I recommend reaching out at LEAST 1 month in advance! 🤰🏼Maternity photos are typically scheduled between 29–34 weeks, so reaching out ahead of that gives us the best chance of finding a date that works for both of our schedules! If you're hoping for a fall 🍂 session, I'd recommend reaching out ASAP! 🫶

For newborn sessions, it's never too early to reach out once you feel comfortable doing so!! Ideally, I recommend reserving your due date at LEAST 1–2+ months in advance. You don't need to know exactly when baby will arrive - we'll reserve your due date on my calendar and choose the actual session date once baby is here! 👶🏼

❗For my lifestyle newborn sessions, most families choose to have their photos taken sometime within baby's first 1–4 weeks. There's a lot of flexibility though, so don't stress if baby is already here or those first few weeks have gotten away from you!!

And if you're reading any of this thinking, "Well shoot...I'm already past that!" PLEASE still reach out! 😂 I will always happily check my calendar for last minute availability when I have it.

That being said, my calendar has stayed pretty full lately (feeling SO blessed! 🥰) and I intentionally limit how many sessions I take on each month. My fall availability is already VERY limited this year, so if you're hoping for maternity, newborn, or family photos this fall, now is definitely the time to get on my calendar! 📆 Just a handful of Oct & Nov dates left!

Proof that extended family photos can actually be FUN! 😂

This crew had me laughing their entire session! Between dodging an impressive amount of goose p**p, lots of joking around, and recreating a photo of the four brothers that has apparently become a bit of a family tradition over the years (last photo) - there was never a dull moment!

I have a feeling Mom may treasure that recreated photo just a *little* more than the boys do, as they each assured me they were going to have to recruit a new generation for the next one. 😂

Extended family sessions aren't just for families with little kids! Whether your kids are 4 or 40, there is something so special about getting everyone together and documenting your family in the present season of life!

Thanks for making my job so much fun, Metcalf family!! 🫶

There is just something extra special about a backyard wedding! 🤍

No elaborate venue needed, just the people you love, a meaningful place, and two people incredibly excited to be married!

It was such an honor getting to document this chapter for these two!!

My wedding books for 2026 are officially closed, but I'm now booking 2027 weddings! If you're planning your big day, I'd love to hear all about it!

A little warning before you scroll...

This post contains excessive amounts of frosting-covered smiles, messy fingers, and one very happy birthday girl. I wish you could hear the little growls of joy she was making! 🎂😂

Cake smash sessions are just down right fun and you never quite know what you're gonna get! Some babies want nothing to do with the cake, others can't shovel it in fast enough!

I promise it's worth the cleanup that comes after! 😬

Becoming a mom has made me cherish milestone photos sooo much more! 🥹

In the last week, my babies turned **4 years old** and **6 months old** and honestly I don't know if my little mama heart can handle it!! 😭😭😭

Everyone warns you that it goes fast, but I don't think you can truly understand until you're living it!

One minute I'm bringing home my tiny newborn, and the next she's telling her baby brother that he's her "best friend!" 😭🥰🥹

Their relationship has been such a sweet gift to watch. She adores him so much and the way his whole face lights up when she walks into the room melts me every time! I know they'll have their moments as they grow up, but I hope they always treasure this relationship!

Our babies don't stay babies for nearly long enough and I think that's why I love milestone sessions so much these days! ❤

I feel like I say this at every stage, but aren't one-year-olds are just the BEST?! 🥹

They're full of personality, constantly on the move, and always showing off some new skills! One minute they're giving you the sweetest little grin, and the next (usually when you look away for 0.5 seconds) they're sprinting off to explore the world!! 😂

As much as I love newborn sessions, there is something so special about documenting this stage too. They're not tiny babies anymore, but they're still so wonderfully little!

You don't need an elaborate setup or a big celebration to capture this season! Just a little room to explore and space to let their little personality shine!

These are the moments you'll miss someday... the wobbly steps, the curious little looks, the belly laughs, the squishy little leg rolls, allll the things! 🥰

If your toddler doesn't sit still for family photos, you're exactly the kind of family I love working with! 😘

The magic happens in the midst of the chaos!

Getting family photos taken with littles can feel stressful because very few toddlers willingly sit and pose for photos - so I don't expect them to!

My sessions are usually filled with running, exploring, picking flowers, asking for snacks, wanting to be held, and doing all the wonderfully unpredictable toddler things! My job is to gently guide the session in a way that still creates beautiful, genuine images rather than the unflattering candid snaps that husbands sometimes get a bad rap for. 😂

This sweet little guy was full of energy, and instead of expecting him to perform for the camera, we followed his lead.

We played.
We explored.
We embraced the little moments in between.

And out of it, we captured beautiful family memories, celebrated this exciting season before baby arrives, and documented all the joy that comes with having a curious two-year-old. (And sweated a little, of course 🥵)

Let this be your reminder that your family doesn't need to be perfectly posed to create beautiful photos.

If you've been putting off family photos because you're worried your toddler "won't cooperate," I promise you're not alone... AND I promise we can still create a gallery you'll treasure!! 🤍
