One of my favorite types of dogs are the scruffy's. Mixes or purebreds those cute little scruffy faces grab my heart every time!

Who are your favorite scruffy dogs?

A few of my favorites - Gomez and Penelope.

There is something about getting your first dog. It leaves a mark on your heart and starts a succession of dogs that come after. Here are some photos and stories of mine.

My first dog was Abby, followed a few years later by Maxine. They were starkly different in personality. But both amazing dogs that I was very close to.

Abby was the best. She was very much the epitome of her breed - stoic, very levelheaded and sensible. She actually thought things through and made decisions based on the situation. She was friendly with people but never intrusive or pushy. Always on her best behavior. Abby was the perfect dog. She never did anything wrong. I got her when she was 8 years old. A retired show dog. She lived to 12 years old.

Maxine was outgoing and friendly. A friend helped me pull her from a pet store at 5 months old. A ragamuffin of a puppy folks shopping in pet stores didn't know what she would grow up to be. We spent lots of time together training for obedience and we did a little agility. She was such a great dog, sweet and loving. She was my first puppy, and she taught me so much.

I put these two together because they marked a huge chapter in my life. Abby is the reason I became a groomer - because no one knew how to groom a Bouvier. Maxine is the reason I learned how to train - she loved to do stuff with me and training was one of them. My daughter taught her to play dead, and she would lay there wagging her tail because she knew she did such a good job.

Tell me about your first dog and share a photo if you have one.

Client in the spotlight! Meet Kelli Chabot - Realtor with Keller Williams. Her favorite part of being a realtor are the super fun people she gets to work with.

"I have a young first-time home buyer that just closed last week. She's a teacher and had saved for a long time to buy, but her budget was tight. We looked at many homes in sketchy neighborhoods, that needed LOTS of work or just weren't well maintained. She told me one day, "I believe that if you just put goodness out to the world it will come back to you every time." I was impressed she knew that at such a young age! The next home we walked into was the ONE! It as significantly underpriced and amazing! There was a bidding war, but she wrote the sweetest letter to the seller and won the deal!"

For the ladies who love their dogs like family. This is your sign to be photographed with your best friend.

Vicki and Gomez are soul mates. Gomez is 16 years young, and he's still the sweet sassy boy she knew as a puppy. Just look at these two.

I love that Darci and her boys made it to the release party and that they got to meet Rocco. The release party was great fun and I will be sharing some behind the scenes soon.

What's so fun about my job? It's this!

I get to help business owners create images that communicate their mission to their customers.

It sounds simple, but it takes planning and intention.

We talk a lot before the session about what to wear, how to prepare for the session (tip: stay hydrated and take extra good care of yourself in the days before your photoshoot.)

We also talk about how you want your photos to look, but more importantly, how you want your photos to feel.

What do you want people to feel when they see your photos? And what do you want your photo to tell people about your work?

I'll talk more about why all of this matters in an upcoming post.

In the meantime, here's what Dr Shine had to say about her new branding images.
