“I literally cried when I saw the sneak peek…” 🥹

A reaction I got from Haley + Jon after our time together in Iowa

They told me before the session Jo w nervous they were to be in front of the camera

Totally get it

That’s the thing about documentary-style photography though — it’s not about perfectly posing or knowing what to do with your hands. It’s about creating space for you to actually be yourselves.

We spent the evening exploring downtown Des Moines together — starting at the Capitol, stopping by the gorgeous Surety Hotel, and ending the night back in the green spaces surrounding the city. Somewhere along the way, the nerves faded and they simply settled into each other. 🤍

Proof that your engagement session doesn’t have to feel stiff or overly posed to still look cinematic as heck✨

Heather + Anthony’s downtown Chicago engagement session felt like stepping into a movie — wandering through the timeless architecture of the Art Institute, running around the Riverwalk, and ending the night with champagne and skyline views by Adler Planetarium. The perfect mix of romantic, editorial, and fully them.

THIS is what happens when you prioritize presence over perfection👇🏼👇🏼

A slow morning spent in two separate spaces — the girls tucked away at Cherry Warehouse Hotel, the guys hanging at El Torreon — before the entire day unfolded into one celebration after another.

First looks filled with tears.

Party bus rides echoing with champagne pops and music.

Portraits at Nelson-Atkins
A ceremony where everyone laughed, cried, and held each other a little tighter

Post-ceremony drinks and just-married chaos at The Brick

And one of the wildest dance floors I’ve seen in a long time back at El Torreon

Through it all, Avery and Brett were just falling more and more in love with one another

Their day felt effortless in the best way — emotional, joyful, intentional, and fully centered around being present with the people they love most.

The kind of wedding day that reminds you what it’s all actually about.
