Sara Wagner Photography- OKC Birth Photographer No matter how he or she arrives, your child's birth is miraculous. I believe that photography, like many forms of art, can be healing.

Let this be one of the few intimate times you can reminisce: the moment you became a mom.

Hey, everyone! It’s been a while! I wanted to let you guys know what’s going on with me and why I’ve been gone for a while. Ty was laid off last October and that threw us into a 5 month job hunt before he accepted a position in Boston. We moved across the country in April and have been getting settled and learning our way around up here since then. And, let me just say…we LOVE it. This place has already been more than we could’ve hoped or imagined. We are grateful.

When we realized we’d be moving, I decided to put photography on hold and really focus on the kids and everything we had going on, personally. That has proven to be a good decision for us right now and, although I miss births so much, I’m thankful to not be pulled in different directions for the time being. I want to thank each of you for your support. Even if I never got the chance to work with you, you’re still here following along and interacting with my photos and it means so much! I am forever grateful for the families I’ve met along the way and the babies I’ve been able to witness come earth side. I remember each one vividly and you all will forever hold such a special place in my heart.

I want to let you know what’s next for me. Right now, I don’t know if I’ll have the bandwidth to continue birth photography up here but, I’m beginning a new type of adventure. I’ve started a page where I share about my journey raising three amazing humans while learning how to heal, reparent myself, and show up differently than I was taught. is where I share the process: breaking cycles, maintaining boundaries and growing in gentleness. I definitely don’t have it all figured out but I’m sharing from the middle of the work as a mom that’s in the thick of it, too!

If that sounds like something you’d be interested in, feel free to follow along! I’m just getting it up and running but it’s already been so wonderful to share bits and pieces with others.

One of my favorite things about being a birth photographer is being able to see families grow and change over time. When former clients reach out and tell me they’re expecting another baby and want me to be in their birth space again, I get so excited! (Like the squeal-and-clap-while-everyone-else-who-didn’t-read-the-message-side-eyes-me kind of excitement) I’m so incredibly happy for each of your growing families AND really stinking pumped that I get to document all of it and be by your side again! It’s seriously such an honor.

I’m only taking 1-2 births a month for the foreseeable future, so don’t hesitate to reach out if you’re thinking about birth photography or videography for your little one’s debut!

Birth photography is so much more than documenting the moment of a baby’s arrival. It’s making sure you can look back on the very first time you held your daughter in your arms. It’s being able to show her how much of an impact she made, the day she was born, on the two people who matter most to her. I love being able to offer families a way to relive and remember such impactful yet fleeting moments.

I just…🥹

The moment I took this, I knew it would be one of my favorites. The way she melted into her mama’s safe arms and dozed off to sleep was absolutely precious.

Forever in awe of the strength of those I get to serve. This first time mama chose to labor unmedicated and displayed unimaginable resilience and determination as her baby crowned for just under 2 hours! I was equally as moved by her husband’s constant support from the way he held her head, brushed hair out of her face, and rubbed her back to the way he anticipated every need and never left her side. He was so present and attuned to her throughout the night and early morning. So much love. So much dedication.

January was a busy month for our family. We were packing up our house for a move across town, I began homeschooling all 3 of our kids, and we finalized the adoption of our boys. It’s been a whirlwind! I have spent the last several months adjusting to all kinds of changes and learning how to give myself and my kids grace upon grace as we tackle the challenges that come with this season. Not that you’d expect or require it, but I want to apologize for seemingly disappearing for a while. Although I was still taking on a few clients here and there, I didn’t have the capacity to do all I’d been doing, including sharing my art with you guys. I’m discovering just how much I miss doing that though! I think that’s a big draw for a lot of artists, right? We want to create pieces that move our audience, outside of just telling a story. There’s something so powerful about being trusted to bear witness to and share stories of babies being born right here in OKC and I’m honored that I still get to do just that. I know that stepping into the most intimate moments with others requires trust to be built and it’s hard to build trust with someone you don’t know or see often. But I do have some good news! I think we have figured out a new rhythm that will help me do all of the things I love while still giving my family the best parts of me. I’m looking forward to slowly sharing more of the stories I’ve been a part of these last few months and I hope to hear from you along the way!

You can always count on me to post photos that make your squeamish coworkers and/or family members stop looking over your shoulder as you scroll. 💁🏻‍♀️ It’s one of the free services I provide.

Oh and Happy Monday, to all of the placentas out there keeping babies healthy and strong. You’re the real MVPs.✌🏻😎

I love getting to see great doulas educate, advocate, and hold space for their clients. When you are at your most vulnerable and are faced with a choice, it can be a relief to have someone in your corner, explaining your choices and helping you decide what is best for you and your family. That can look like reminding you of your rights and options, explaining the risks and benefits of certain medications/interventions, and even providing physical support. Whatever your birth plan, a doula can help! I have suggestions for doulas if you’re considering hiring one and I recommend reaching out to them and asking questions to see who might be a good fit for you! If you have hired a doula before, how did it go? What would you tell another mom facing that decision?

Pictured is supporting a mutual client. It was such an honor to work with her and see her do what she does with passion and expertise!

I wanted to share this photo with you today because it’s almost exactly the way I am looking at my new phone after a stressful 24 hours.

My clients all know how seriously I take being on call. So much so that I give everyone a couple ways to reach me if my phone gets dropped in a toilet or spontaneously combusts (life with three kids is unpredictable, right?)

Anyway, I’m on-call right now but we still do fun things within a safe distance, so I took my kids to the pool yesterday. Because I’ve used it before with no issue, I once again trusted my waterproof phone pouch to protect my phone so I could play with my kids and still be reachable. (My Apple Watch wouldn’t stay connected due to distance) And wouldn’t you know it? The waterproof pouch had a tiny cut in it and I looked down to find my phone in an inch of water…inside the waterproof carrier. 🤦🏻‍♀️ It’s “water resistant,” so it was still working but it began to glitch over the next 12 hours. By the time I woke up this morning, it was trying to give up the spirit. Flashing green and white, trying to call people when I just wanted to check the weather, typing ridiculously long and illegible texts, etc. I knew it was time.

A couple hours later, I walked out of the store with a shiny, fully functioning (purple 💃🏻) phone that is donning it’s very own waterPROOF case. 🙌🏻 Our oldest is walking around with the now useless phone pushing buttons (or letting fate decide what’s going to happen) and grinning from ear to ear. Day made x 2.

I am SO glad that my client and I were prepared for this scenario and although no one needed me while my phone was being ridiculous, I’m thankful for contingency plans.

Could this nursery (or family) be any more beautiful?! I mean, seriously. 😍
