Summer due dates deserve a little extra planning.

Between vacations, sibling schedules, warm weather, and the natural unpredictability of babies, it helps so much to have your newborn session reserved before baby arrives.

When you book, we plan the experience ahead of time — wardrobe, colors, family portraits, artwork goals, and all the little details that make your session feel calm instead of last-minute.

Some of my favorite newborn images are the ones with dads.

There is something so sweet about seeing how tiny a baby looks in dad’s hands. The contrast is always emotional — strong and gentle at the same time.

And I know many dads arrive thinking they are “just there for a few photos.”

Then they see the images later, and those portraits often become family favorites.

I have photographed newborns for 10 years, and I still approach every session with the same mindset:

Go slow.
Watch the baby.
Support the parents.
Create something timeless.

Trends come and go, but the images that last are usually the simplest ones.

A baby in their parents’ arms.
A tiny profile.
A soft swaddle.
A family standing at the very beginning of a new chapter.

That is the kind of work I want to create.

Your ordering appointment is where we sit down together, look through your finished images, narrow down favorites, and decide what you actually want to do with them.

Some families choose an album.
Some choose wall art.
Some choose gift prints for grandparents.
Some choose digital images alongside printed pieces.

The goal is not to overwhelm you with options.

When should you book newborn photos?

Ideally, during your second trimester or early third trimester.

Because babies rarely arrive exactly on schedule, I reserve your due date first. Once your baby is born, we choose the actual session date based on their arrival and how everyone is doing.

Most newborn sessions take place within the first few weeks, but there is flexibility depending on your baby, your recovery, and your family’s needs.

The biggest benefit of booking early is peace of mind.

You know it is handled before the beautiful chaos begins.

One day, the photographs will feel different.

At first, you may see how tiny they were.
Then you may notice how tired you looked, but how gently you held them.
Later, your child may ask about the day these were taken.
And years from now, you may realize these images held a version of your family you could never go back to.

That is what I love about portraits.

They keep becoming more valuable.

Newborn posing should never be forced.

Every baby has different preferences, flexibility, sleep patterns, and needs. Some love being curled up. Some prefer being wrapped. Some need extra time in parent’s arms before settling.

A beautiful portrait is never worth making a baby uncomfortable.

The best newborn images come from patience, experience, and listening closely to the baby in front of me.

That is always the priority in my studio: safety first, beauty second.

Describe the newborn stage using only one word.

I’ll go first: blurry.

Beautiful, tender, emotional, exhausting, sweet, overwhelming, sacred… but definitely blurry.

That’s one reason I believe photographs matter so much. Sometimes you don’t realize how quickly a season passed until you’re already on the other side of it.
