THIS IS ONE REASON MEN WITH MONEY ARE DODGING MARRIAGE.
WHY HIGHLY-PAID ATHLETES ARE NOT CONSIDERED HIGH-VALUE MEN
Even Though they Make Millions of Dollars
Kevin Garnett was a former American professional basketball player who played for 21 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Nicknamed "The Big Ticket," Garnett is considered one of the greatest power forwards of all time, known for his intensity, versatility, and defensive ability.
In July 2004, Garnett married his longtime girlfriend, Brandi Padilla. He retired in 2016, and on July 12, 2018, Garnett's wife filed for divorce, asking for custody of the children. 2019 they were in court, with Garnett trying to secure his resources.
After coming off four consecutive losses in his last fights and hinting at retirement, Deontay Wilder's partner, Shuntel Swift, now says she has been abusive and wants to divorce him.
She says he has been physically abusive and wants a restraining order against him. She says at least ten of the physical attacks took place in front of their six-year-old daughter and her son. Wilder has been given a restraining order that will also require him to sell or turn in all his fi****ms. He has a minimum of twelve guns in total, including a machine gun assault rifle and a G***k pistol.
She says whenever Wilder loses a fight, he becomes emotionally unstable and turns his anger on her. She claims in court records that Wilder has also been abusive to their 18-year-old son right from the time he was 11 years.
The pattern here is the same. Kevin Samuels said athletes do not qualify as HVM because,
1. They tend to marry or pair with good-looking Instagram models or 304s, who often are there for what they can take and have nothing to give these young men. These models are often after a lifestyle and usually succeed in finessing these young men. Both Deontay Wilder and Garnett married gorgeous women from outside the black community. One of the fastest ways for a man to lose wealth is by pairing with the wrong woman.
2. They don't make a high income for extended periods (more than seven years).
3. The women they marry often divorce them once they retire, as we see with Deontay Wilder. Of course, divorce means losing your assets.
4. Most of these athletes lack situational awareness and invest in these IG models even as they (the models) continue posting thirst traps on social media. They suffer the arrogance of being rich and end up paying for it.
5. They often don't have a network of other high-value men.
6. They don't have LinkedIn-level visibility, and their main source of income is their sports, which doesn't elevate them when they are outcompeted, get injured, grow fat or grow old.
