Happy Mother’s Day! I’ve been laid up and haven’t been able to get out lately. Here are some of my favorite photos of a mother duck and her many ducklings who made a home at the pond near my house several years ago. Thanks to all of the mothers out there and the mothers and grandmothers who we cherished and who we remember today. Thanks to my wonderful children for making this Mother’s Day so special. ❤️

The Lesser Adjutant stork is a large wading bird in Southeast Asia. It stands 4 feet tall and has an 8 foot wingspan. It’s not the most attractive bird, and should be named the Scrooge bird in my opinion. I saw these birds on my trip to Sri Lanka with the . The first photo shows one with two Black-headed Ibis. The Adjutant stork has a neck pouch, so it’s even less attractive than this bird. They have lovely blue eyes, thankfully. Habitat loss has placed them in the threatened category.

The Pink-necked Green Pidgeon is a member of the dove family. I spotted this pair of males on my trip to Sri Lanka with the OKC Zoo last year. The females are more solidly green. Their diet consists of fruit and seeds. These shots are a bit grainy because it was a foggy day, but it was still a treat to see these beautiful birds.
