I posted my first (terrible) tutorial and I’ve already got up to almost 100 subs.

And that first hour of watch time by intentional creation. I’ll be a YouTube filmmaker.

My goal is to make .55 like it hero Peter Mckinnon by the end of the year through intentional filmmaking, tutorials, and content creation.

And hopefully employ people here in the city in the future to create lokal films.

If you’re diving into filmmaking and want your shots to scream cinema, the 85mm lens is your go-to. Known for its dreamy background blur (bokeh) and tack-sharp focus, this lens is perfect for character-driven stories, intimate close-ups, and emotional storytelling. It’s not a jack-of-all-trades, but for the right scene, it’s unbeatable.

👉 Why Filmmakers Love It:
• Shallow Depth of Field: Isolate your subject and create that stunning blurred background.
• Cinematic Compression: Pulls the background closer to your subject for that polished, high-end look.
• Low-Light Performance (f/1.8 or f/1.4 models): Handle dimly lit sets like a pro.

👉 Best Uses in Filmmaking:
• Close-Ups: Perfect for capturing raw emotion.
• Dialogue Scenes: Keep the focus on the actors, not the surroundings.
• Portrait Shots: Add depth and dimension to character intros.

Pros for Filmmakers:
✅ Creates a cinematic, polished aesthetic
✅ Helps emphasize emotion and detail
✅ Lightweight and easy to carry on set

Cons to Watch Out For:
❌ Limited framing—great for close and medium shots but not wide scenes
❌ Requires space to shoot full-body shots (challenging in tight sets)
❌ Can get expensive if you want pro-level glass

Bottom line: The 85mm lens is a filmmaking powerhouse when you need to tell personal, emotionally charged stories. But remember—it’s a specialist, not a generalist. Pick your scenes wisely, and this lens will reward you with jaw-dropping visuals.

Here are some shots from one local hip hop / rnb show. The shots are grainy because of the low light issues but I’m not a stickler about that sort of stuff. I believe most shots can be manipulated to look good with rhe right intentions. They can be the ground level for some graphic design, or a nww concept. I didnt use tk save the photos captured but now i save for future editing and use.

You have to be aware of the lights movements and move with the artists if theres only simple lighting or a lot of darkness. Have to have a higher shutter speed and no flash because to me the flash washes out the overall vibe or environment.

Don't forget that like or share the post.

I present the Uncomfortable Truth Freestyle by and the video was shot and edited and created within a four hour window, yesterday, on Sunday afternoon. We got what we have for creativity. And you can do a lot with a green screen and lights and a little ingenuity. Stuff doesn't have to be difficult, which is something I realized about Hollywood and larger creatives. I'm probably going to try product videography or photography soon and create that type of portfolio. Still figuring out the reinvigoration of lost passions. Hope you enjoy the piece.

Content creation is what I love and what I want in life😔. A older friend of mine told me and corrected my perceptions about work. Where there's an absence of effort is the opportunity to lead. Its where you get to grow. Its where you get to show who you are to yourself. Its where we live.

Creativity bleeds from my soul. A band from OKC that was a mixture of funk and pop and soul but uber white. While looking at the shot, I realized I am not the sauce but the chef. I do believe in my self now lore than ever.
