Old Man and The Sea Photography

Old Man and The Sea Photography Photographs by Dave Davis. “They sailed well and the old man soaked his hands in the salt water and tried to keep his head clear.

There were high cumulus clouds and enough cirrus above them so that the old man knew the breeze would last all night. The old man looked at the fish constantly to make sure it was true. It was an hour before the first shark hit him.” Ernest Hemingway from The Old Man and the Sea~~~In 1959 I went in the Army at age 17 and with my first monthly paycheck I bought my first camera, a Kodak Brownie Haw

keye. I have been taking photos ever since. In the past fifteen years I have gotten serious about my photography. I'm 79 years old now, so I’m trying to get as many good photos in as I can before the good Lord calls me. I named my photography service after a novel, "The old man and the sea", written in Cuba by Ernest Hemingway in 1951 and published in 1952. It's a classic about a poor fisherman and his ordeals.

An illustration of the difference between apertures of f/2.0 (wide open on my Fujifilm X100F) and f/5.6. I took these two photos yesterday of one my many plants on my back deck. I tried to compose both photos the same. All I did was change my aperture. I think maybe learning aperture is one the more difficult things to learn for photography beginners. If a photo is worth a thousand words, maybe two photos are worth even more?? 😁 Anyway, that's my thought for the day and I'm sticking with it. Good night all.

Photography Tip: The heron was pretty well in silhouette when I shot this. To further enhance it I increased the blacks in Photoshop until he was completely in silhouette, increased the saturation and vibrance a wee bit, and changed my white balance to shade to bring out the reds. Have fun with your photography.

Don't put all of your eggs in one basket. Especially at the price of eggs nowadays 😊

Went to my doctor yesterday with knee problems. They took x-rays and this guy was in the x-ray room. Couldn't resist taking this photo with my iPhone. Since I was at the doctor's office anyway, I "doctored up" the photo a bit in Photoshop 😄

My thought for the day: Photography is a universal language. It transcends all spoken languages. You can look at a photo without knowing anything about the photographer and judge it on its own merit. It can make you happy or sad, and all emotions in between. It doesn't matter what the photographer's country origin, language, skin color, religion, etc. are. They're irrelevant. The photo is what it is. It tells a story. You either like it or not. And that's the beauty of photography.

I’m really starting to like this Summer Chrome film recipe. I think it works well in our Florida sunshine and it has a very distinctive style with the colors.
