Mardi Gras House Floats started in 2021 when traditional parades were canceled, but canceling Carnival in New Orleans? Not happening.
So neighbors did what this city does best… they adapted.
Families transformed their homes into full-scale “floats.” Porches became parade routes. Staircases turned into bead-covered masterpieces. Yards exploded in purple, green, and gold.
It was creativity.
It was community.
People drove and walked through neighborhoods like it was a rolling parade, supporting local artists who helped design and build the displays. Entire streets became open-air galleries of Mardi Gras spirit.
Because in New Orleans, Carnival isn’t just an event.
It’s identity. 💜💛💚
