NO GENERATIVE AI elements are ever added. Photography started out as a form of therapy for me. After witnessing a horrifying tragic event I went through a significant period of depression. Never able to get the terrible imagery out of my head, I dove into photography to try take as many images as a I could to replace the horrible, with something I found interesting. I never imagined it would have

developed into a profession. However after getting numerous requests to purchase prints I decided it was time to try my hand at Professional Photography. If you would like to purchase any prints please just send me a private message and I will get back to you ASAP. I will have a web site with direct ordering up shortly. Im just to addicted to taking the photos to focus on selling them.

"On a Mission"

I have met 7 newborn plover chicks so far this year but this little one has been the most fun to photograph. He has 3 siblings but he tends to be a bit of a loner and more adventurous. He is super tenacious and seems to me like is ready to take on the world. At times he does seem like a bit of a handful for mom as he tends to wander a whole lot more than the other 3.

I am dropping off 5 boxes of mixed 6 packs of Plover Note Cards at The Ogunquit Photography Gallery today. Price is $25 for a 6 pack or $48 for 2-6 packs.

I hope to have a few boxes available for shipping as well either later on today or tomorrow. Details to follow.

The Ogunquit Photography Gallery is at 119 Perkins Cove and is open everyday from 10-6pm

Good evening !

The lupines are in full bloom here in my hometown and I have photographed this field in the past. It not the most ideal location as it is surrounded by less than iconic subjects that make for lackluster backgrounds and terrible distractions. Today, I figured maybe if I waited till twilight I could turn one of those distractions into an attraction. During the daylight having the emergency walk in clinic in the background was a total fail but once the sun goes down, the lights come on and I shoot at the shallowest depth of field my gear will allow. All of a sudden the negatives become the positives. A good friend once said to me very early on in my photography career..."If you don't like the way things look, then change the way you look at things"

Good morning !

This morning I thought I would check to see how the plovers made out after enduring the ocean storm we had a couple days ago. The storm was not one for the record books by any means but we did get some moderate surf and bit of a surge at high tide. I can only imaging that when your only 2 inches tall and weigh about as much as a thumbtack, that even a light swell is bit chaotic.
When I arrived I was bit nervous seeing how far up on the beach the seaweed was but it was not long before I saw several adult plovers out foraging in the freshly deposited piles of stink. The seaweed was attracting flies and plovers love to eat flies so it was a good morning for plovers !
I ventured on to check on the newborns and it was not long at all before mom brought her 4 chicks out of the dunes and out into the seaweed to forage and they had an absolute feast !
It was a little odd in that I got super excited when I saw the flies in my frame because it sort of flipped the script of the story in a way. One the one hand a newborn piping plover is about as fragile and meek as it comes. However by getting as low as possible and capturing an image with the single fly in his sights my hope was to portray this minuscule little fluff ball on toothpicks as a dominant predator which in his own little world he is !

Good morning !

"Stay in the Car"

On our recent trip to photograph black bears we were treated with a wonderful encounter with this very large black bear.
We were driving the gravel roads and came upon this monster foraging right along side the road. He was only about 30 yards off the road, in perfect light with virtually no obstructions.
It was pretty much as perfect of a shooting situation for a wildlife subject I have ever had. Then a couple other cars pulled up, and for reasons unexplainable to me they deemed it was necessary to get out of the car for a "better shot". As soon as they did one of the men stumbled and almost fell which frightened the bear and he bolted. Then the guy asks me...

"what do you think startled him ?"

I will never ever understand these situations. It is one thing to get out of the car when there is no shot available and the bear is not so damn close to try to see if you can manage anything at all but when the universe gives you absolute gold, be happy with it and consider yourself one of the luckiest humans on earth.

We had a similar but opposite situation with the red wolf. There was 4 different photographers in 4 different cars and we all managed to not only NOT disturb the wolf but we also without saying a word to each other made it possible so everyone there could get a good look without doing anything to deter the wolfs behavior. These things are not hard at all. It just requires you to think of something other than yourself.

Good morning !

It is a stormy day in Perkins Cove today but I am guessing the fine folks at Perkins Cove Pottery Shop are content to not have to shovel their way into work today.
It is going to be a great day to visit The Cove ! Parking should be at least better than normal and we will have the most amazing views of this ocean storm right outside our windows. Bring your camera, bring your phone and come grab some photos of the surf from the coziness of 119 Perkins Cove which is home to an incredible collection of art, including 4 Art/Photography Galleries, a jewelry store and a clothing store. We are also happy to hold onto or ship any purchases that you do not want to carry around in the rain. If you have kids and are looking for something to do. I have a large collection of wildlife photography that the kids seem to enjoy including owls, bears, wolves, eagles, plovers and more and my good friend Amy Kelly at TaleSpinStudio creates art from her photography that kids are encouraged to engage and interact with. There is something for everyone !

Good morning !

I decided to sleep in today so I could be wide eyed and bushy tailed for my day at The Ogunquit Photography Gallery today.
The good news is I have 3 more images from the other morning when Mother Nature was wielding some amazing skies for us to take in. I told myself I would not do this composition as I have done it a million times as have many others but the sky was absolutely begging for reflections so I had to oblige. Since I always get asked " How do you get these reflections when the ocean is never that calm". The secret is..."Puddles"

The Ogunquit Photography Gallery is at 119 Perkins Cove and we are open everyday from 10-6pm. Also check out our neighbors TaleSpinStudio, Maine Art Collective, Gallery 11, and Dukes Clothing. All located in the same building across from the public bathrooms in Perkins Cove. While you are in the cove be sure to grab a Lobster roll at Footbridge Lobster and check out my friends at Perkins Cove Pottery Shop and Kikis Ogunquit. So honored and grateful to be apart of this community of local artists and businesses.

Good Morning !

Mother Nature painted the most perfect sunrise this morning and I was up at 4am to make sure I was there to capture it.
It was a tough decision choosing between Marginal Way or Nubble Lighthouse but I made a stop at Short Sands Beach to assess the situation and determined that the cloud formations were looking more appealing in the direction of The Nubble so I headed there. When I first arrived I started second guessing my choice and drove 3 laps around The Nubble Parking lot while I pondered what would be best. Eventually I decided to not risk missing all of it by looking for something better and I am very happy I did that !

Prints are available and I am going to try to get #1 into The Ogunquit Photography Gallery by the time it opens at 10am. Unless of course any of you fine folks would like it ?

We are at 119 Perkins Cove and we are open everyday from 10-6pm
