This doesn’t happen too often…

There’s a reason you don’t see many images like this. The caves near Cascade Falls at Matthiessen State Park sit in deep shadow, while the waterfall demands light and movement. Balancing these two elements can be extremely difficult.

Yesterday, conditions came together just long enough to capture both, revealing a perspective that’s rarely seen.

In May of 2023, I experienced an awe-inspiring moment at Sac Canyon on my way to St. Louis Canyon. The sight of the incredible waterfall took me by complete surprise! It’s such a rare and breathtaking sight that left me in absolute awe. Rainfall a few days prior resulted in a perfect flow.
