Their pricing. Their bookings. Their editing. Their studio. Their growth.

None of it has anything to do with what you’re building.

There will always be someone ahead of you, behind you, or doing it completely differently, and that’s kind of the point.

Stop looking sideways long enough to recognize how far you’ve come.

Learn. Grow. Get better. Build something that feels like you.

Another photographer succeeding doesn’t mean you’re falling behind.

This is what a mini session with me can look like. 🤎

Their proofing gallery had 75 images to choose from, and these are the ones they chose for their final gallery. 🥹 A mini may be short, but we can create SO much in that time.

And speaking of minis…September is nearly FULL and I’m down to my last 3 mini session spots at this location. 👀

The other day I was reminded of something that genuinely stopped me in my tracks.

For so many of my newborn clients, I’m one of the first people outside of their immediate family to hold their baby.

This brand new little person they’ve spent months waiting for, loving before they ever even met them and then they walk into my studio and trust me enough to place them in my arms.

I’ve photographed newborns for years, so holding, soothing, wrapping and posing babies has become such a natural part of what I do. But I never want it to become so routine that I forget just how big that trust actually is.

Of course, there’s so much care that goes into a newborn session. I’m always watching their cues, making sure they’re comfortable, and putting their safety above any pose or photo. But most of the time, what you see is simply me snuggling your baby, talking to them, rocking them, and somehow getting completely attached for the couple of hours they’re with me 😂

There’s something really special about being welcomed into such a brand new chapter of someone’s life.

You’re trusting me with the tiniest, most important person in your world and trusting me to preserve a season that passes way too quickly.

That isn’t something I’ll ever take lightly.

So to every parent who has handed me their brand new baby and said, in one way or another, “I trust you”, thank you.

It means more to me than I think I’ll ever be able to put into words. 🤎

This is a vulnerable post, but I felt the urge to put my heart out there.

The last 5 months have been hard. Last year, my husband was gone for 6 months, just to be home for a few months and leave again, completely unplanned.

I wanted to share a bit of my heart and how heavy it’s been, because I know I’m not alone. This corner of the internet has led me to so many other military spouses and entrepreneurs who I’m sure are in a similar boat and I just hope they feel seen.

It’s hard to explain what it feels like to spend years building something you’re proud of, only to watch it slowly lose momentum because life keeps asking you to put it second. To know you’re capable of more, but also know you’re already giving everything you currently have.

I just want to say thank you to my clients, past, present, and future who are all so comforting and understanding in our situation. So many of you have reached out and let me know you’re here for me, checked in on how I’m doing during our session and I just want to say it means the world that you recognize my situation and think of me.

I truly just wish I could do more, because I have huge aspirations for this business but I just need some stability to pour even more into it. The time will come though 🫶🏻

There’s something about this season of life that deserves to be remembered exactly as it felt.

It’s such a short, strange little in between knowing everything is about to change, but not quite knowing what life on the other side will look like yet.

I think that’s why I’ll always love maternity sessions so much. Getting to preserve a piece of the before is pretty special.
