I recently photographed Madison for her Class of 2027 senior portraits, and this session taught me something.

I've photographed seniors against green screen for years. I love it because once I have a well-lit portrait with a great pose and expression, I'm not locked into what happened to be behind the subject when I pressed the shutter. I can build an environment around the photograph that complements the clothing, school colors, personality, and energy of the image.

My normal process is to cull and professionally edit the photographs, create a few finished composites myself, and then allow the family to select their favorites and the backgrounds they would like.

This time, something different happened.

Madison's mother downloaded the portraits, took a few of them into ChatGPT, and started creating.

And she got my attention.

She didn't simply replace the green screen with another background. She turned the portraits into senior artwork—oversized 2027 graphics, dramatic lighting, smoke, reflections, typography, school colors, and magazine-style layouts.

As a photographer, I could have looked at that and thought, "AI is coming for me"

Instead, I saw something else.

Every one of those creations still began with Madison standing in front of my camera.

The pose was real.

The smile was real.

The expression was real.

The lighting was photographed.

The personality was hers.

AI didn't create Madison's senior portrait. It gave us an entirely new way to build around it.

And I think that's where portrait photography is heading.

The photographer's job is no longer limited to finding the perfect background. My job is to create the strongest possible **base photograph**—lighting, posing, expression, detail and personality—and then use every tool available to turn that photograph into something special.

So you'll probably begin seeing something new from Hood Event Photo.

Traditional senior portraits aren't going anywhere. But alongside them, I'm going to begin exploring a new generation of creative senior composites that combine professional photography with AI-assisted design.

**Real portraits. Limitless creative possibilities.**

Or, put another way:

I capture the real you. Then we can build the world around you.

Madison and her mom may have just helped inspire the next evolution of senior portraits at Hood Event Photo.

Class of 2027, we're just getting started.

When your assistant comes home from college and immediately gets put back to work 😂
But this one was worth it.
Annapolis rooftop.
Cybertruck.
Prom send-off.
Drone in the air.
And a video that crossed 1K+ views from my personal page.
The city backdrop on this one was FIRE.

I recently had the honor of completing a D9 Portrait Session featuring four outstanding members of the National Pan-Hellenic Council—
Alpha Phi Alpha, Delta Sigma Theta, Phi Beta Sigma, and Zeta Phi Beta.

All four are accomplished educators, and leaders who serve our community daily. The session was organized by my chapter Brother, Brian Boles, and it was a powerful reminder of how much legacy, pride, and excellence the D9 represents—on and off the yard.

This shoot is part of a growing body of work I’m branding as D9 Portraits—professional, intentional portraits that honor identity, history, and excellence, not just a logo or colorway.

For these sessions, I’m experimenting with session names inspired by the culture and spirit of our organizations:

• Ice Cold Portraits
• Pearls and Poses
• Fortitude Frames
• Purple and Gold Prestige
• Kappa Klassics
• GOMAB Portraits
• Royal Z Look
• SGRho Signature Portraits
• Centaur Legacy Portraits

👀 Here’s where I’d love your input:
Which session name resonates with you the most?
