A vegan 🌱 post!
A year ago ty and I decided to dive in to a vegan lifestyle. We reached out to friends and asked questions, we did research, we got blood work done to see what nutrients we were lacking. I am not going to lie, I went vegan at first for health but a week into teaching myself more about it I grew to understand the why behind it.
When I ate meat or dairy, I didn’t want to hear or think where it came from. I would eat anything from gas station hot dogs to liverwurst spread on toast. I didn’t think twice of it, but now that I no longer consume that stuff I opened my eyes to the reality behind it and am heart broken. This is me not judging anyone else for choosing to eat meat and such, but me judging myself.
At the beginning it was a weird transition, not difficult just weird. Thankfully we live in a city that makes it very easy to go out and have vegan options and I know not every place has that. Trust me haha I’ve had my fair share of “oh I’ll just have fries” when I go out.
I have no idea where any of this is even going or if it makes sense, I just want to post this for myself. Through this I have had a lot of people support me whether it’s someone asking me questions out of pure curiosity or friends and family who go out of their way to make sure we have food to eat too. But we have also had encounters of people telling us it is unhealthy, we NEED meat to survive or trying to convince us to eat something they made because “it only has one egg in it”.
We chose this for us in the beginning but within a week we continued to not consume anything that comes from animals for our bodies, the animals, the earth. I am the healthiest and happiest I have been in a long time.
