The season has ended… I know that for tourists summer is still going on, but for us, the residents of Ocean City, the season is over. I run a small local business, and I am grateful for every client. To each one I say thank you, with the hope that I provided the highest quality service and managed to preserve their smiles, emotions, and memories forever in the photos I took.
It was a strange season, and either I missed something or someone is not being honest with the official statistics, because they show that this July was better than last year in Ocean City. At the same time, I had the worst July in my 20-year career as a photographer here. My friends working in restaurants and retail also say it was a terrible July. Anyway, June was okay and August was very good.
Even though this was a very weak season for me, extremely weak, I met many fantastic families. I had the opportunity to work with wonderful people, and unlike any other year, I didn’t meet a single family that was difficult to work with. I gave it everything I had!
Thank you for a wonderful season. I’m waiting to see what the future will bring. I don’t know how much longer I will be able to stay in Ocean City, as each year it gets harder and harder. It’s not easy to make a living as a photographer. People today have iPhones, and the thirst and hunger for family pictures has faded, because we all carry photos of our families in our pockets on smartphones. The tradition of family portraits during beach vacations isn’t dead, but it is entering a new era. Maybe it’s time to move on? For now, I’m still here, and as always, I am ready to take photos for you.
