Good News! Given the posts and all of the comments we thought it be fair to open the model in question and share with everyone what was discovered, because inquiring minds want to know. Upon opening the model it was noted that the “light blue” appearance of what was thought to resemble Loctite glue was actually “blue paint overspray” that didn’t completely cover the brass. The portions of brass bleed through as seen in the photos. The aforementioned “brown” that’s was seen, was actually a thin layer of corrossion that made it a little harder to separate from the shell than what would normally be the case once the screws were removed from the bottom of the tender. The model runs extremely well as was indicated, but the corrossion and pilot repair should have been mentioned by us but was an oversight in the original listing. Overall, the model still has quite some value. So let’s do this! We are going to raffle off this model absolutely FREE! All I ask is that the winner cover the cost of shipping. Here is a chance to bring this to a close and have some fun with it. After all, collecting and modeling brass model trains should be fun!
