It was 6 years ago today that I put on my first art gallery 🎨✨🍺✨📷

I invited to help me fill up the massive amount of space 🙌🏽

brought some amazing music and entertainment 🎤

This was right before my 30th birthday and was the best way I could possibly think of rounding out my 20s.

So grateful for the opportunity to have put this on and the spark it ignited in my creative aspirations 🙏🏽💥🖤

Photographer’s note: The hardest thing about being Black (in my opinion), is that you’re fighting the invisible enemy of racism on ALL sides, ALL THE TIME!. Whether it’s through direct police violence/murder because the 13th amendment simply legalizes Slavery “as punishment of crime” (wink, wink) or fighting anti-Black discrimination from other communities of color specifically the Asian community capping Black excellence at “prestigious” High Schools across the country, falsely claiming “discrimination” while taking up the Lion share of spaces. It hurts, won’t lie, it’s exhausting as f**k to continually have to prove your worth and mere existence daily. No matter how high you go, the invisible enemy awaits.
We saw it with Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, George Floyd, Trayvon, Oscar and the list continues, s**t even the Will Smith slap was treated differently. We can’t stop people from being racist but you can hold them accountable, financially like (for example) if you charged every “Karen” or “Karina” $25,000 for every phony 911 call, the s**t would drop dramatically tomorrow… I mean, you COULD treat racism like how America treated Black folks during its “War on Drugs” in the 1980’s aka The Dope Era (wink, wink) but that’ll be for another day. The fact the slogan/hashtag even exist is a “clusterf**k” to me… who am I’m telling this to? and why do I give these people so much power?. You can’t convince a racist that we matter, period.
So I wait for another day, a day that we can be Black, have our hair, or locs, to not deal with micro aggressions or tokenism like when they put us at the head of “diversity and inclusion” depts… if I gotta be at the bottom of society, might as well move to Africa where the invisible enemy won’t zap my energy … sorry for the diatribe, actually, I take that back … I just saw Doctor Strange with the fam recently and I wish when I die, I can switch realities to something less f**ked up than this thing called Life where we have to live with a double consciousness just to manage, be well y’all - take care of your heart and your mental🙏🏾
