This party was insane! A prickly fountain! Soda and popcorn bar! Photo Booth! Pickle eating contest! You name it he had thought about it! Probably the best Bar Mizvah party I’ve attended.
I may have cried a little though, these pregnancy hormones were getting the best of me seeing how grown up the kids were. 13 is such a pivotal age, the beginning of a new chapter into teen hood. Their nervousness, their grown up outfits, trying to be cool. I remember it so well but as an adult all I see now is how young they truly are 😭 Parenthood is really just learning to let go on one stage and embracing the wonderful individual they are growing into, isn’t? My heart isn’t ready!

Part one, the ceremony: had to split the ceremony snd the party up into two different posts because we got so many good photos! Getting to photograph their second son’s Bar Mitzvah was so wonderful. I loved seeing familiar faces but also getting to meet their new dog! He talked about how how deeply he appreciated his family and the way the Jewish community has played such a pivotal role in his sense of belonging. His family talked about what a kind and thoughtful person he was and how at the age of 13 he was able to bring such different groups together effortlessly. I love Bar Mizvahs because I get to learn about who your child is and see them celebrated at such a pivotal time in their lives. Going from children to teens is such a big transition, I love seeing seeing the community come to support them 🥹

Somewhere that has always been important to Mel and I’s relationship is Point Area, my godmother has been letting us stay at her gorgeous cabin for years. This bathroom is so meaningful to my relationship with Mel. In 2021 I drunkenly told her I loved her for the first time on the edge of the bathtub. 3 years later we got engaged in this cabin in bed late one night in April for Mel’s birthday trip. We are here now and Mel got to feel our baby for the first time. I love the way that this place has seen us through multiple seasons of life and I cannot wait to bring our baby here next year

Bottom photo: same post but my head is rolled up towards the ceiling.
Slide 3: top photo. I am laying in the tub holding my breasts and have my other hand cradling my belly. My head is leaning against the window. Bottom left photo- a close up of me dripping water on my stomach. Bottom right-a silhouette of my full body behind the glass door in the bathtub.

Visiting one of my moms who lives in Hawaii this year felt extra special. Her place is somewhere that holds many childhood memories for me and somewhere that we would go yearly. It’s been 5 years since I had been and I missed it deeply. It’s stunning and lush, after 30 plus years of minimal landscaping it feels like you stepped into the jungle.
While I there we went to an art show that her friend was part of and I met Ferrell and her son. I asked if they would like to come to my moms place to do a photoshoot and she agreed! I love when life is serendipitous like that 👏

Two years in the making…two years of IVF, tears, and hope. We are so excited to announce baby Berry Contreras coming October 2026! This is our first embryo transfer and feel so grateful to be at 24 weeks 😭. After the anatomy scan it felt like we could take a deep breath. I am so grateful to have Mel through all this all. She has seen me through a rough first trimester, goes to every appointment, and is the best support system I could ask for. I can’t wait to be moms together 🌈

My favorite garden in the Bay Area never disappoints, even on a cloudy morning 😍 Iris of Portland Family Photographer Photos and Films asked if I would like to participate in a photography group where we all photographed on the same day around the world. Lucky me I already had this session planned for my assigned time! I feel so grateful to be part of this lather photography community.

Happiest belated Father’s Day to all the rad dads and those who show up in that role. I am so in awe of how families make it happen, support one another and love. Thank you for letting me witness your family.

Sessions don’t need to be complicated, mom wanted to keep it low key at home but was worried about how to make sure her kids were comfortable so I suggested we focus on doing the things they love as a family. They played basketball and made cookies. I love being a fly on the wall into what a day in your life looks like 💕
