Send healing energy to our big boy Loki 💜
Last night we took him to the emergency vet to rule out bloat or obstruction and thankfully, he did not have either but was given fluids and anti-nausea medication. The changes we recognized in Loki— dry heaving, breathing irregularity, pacing, white foamy vomit, drooling, and anxiety. While I was trying to not have a panic attack, Josh got in contact with the ER vet and they recommended we bring him in just in case. Within 30 minutes, Loki was laying in the exam room trying to sleep with his breathing and heart rate back to normal. We wanted to be careful so we decided to go with the fluids and anti-nausea medication to help him feel better. Up all hours of the night for bathroom breaks and making sure he was doing okay, he is now recovering and has been able to sleep.
Loki was a trooper meeting two new vets and a bunch of dogs in the waiting room with no reactions while being very chill. We are hopeful that he will have a solid recovery in the next few days and if there’s any change, we will be bringing him to our regular vet.
Within the first 3 months of having Sven he had an allergic reaction to a bug so we went to an ER vet with him even though we knew it was an allergic reaction. Another dog came in with an allergic reaction and with our permission, they shared the ultrasound with both parties to show how Sven had a normal one and the other dog at the ER had asphyxiation. Thus, for us we just felt like we had to bring Loki in from our previous experience with Sven.
Loki is our least affectionate dog so when he was leaning on us and asking for pets, I knew he needed to feel relieved of the anxiety and nausea so I’m happy the fluids and meds helped him a lot. He is my first dog ever so he is my everything 🤎
