🖤 Echo Gothic: A Journey Through Shadow, Memory, and Light
At night, I wear an eye patch as part of my care routine. Back in September 2024, I was misdiagnosed after getting shingles in my right ear. Within days, it spread to my 7th and 8th cranial nerves, causing facial paralysis on the right side.
The condition? Ramsay Hunt Syndrome—a rare neurological disorder with a 50/50 prognosis. My age wasn’t on my side… but the Universe was. And I believe in the power of healing.
✨ My smile is now 80% restored.
✨ My right eye blinks, partially.
✨ My mindset has completely transformed.
During this time, I’ve been unable to work due to disabling symptoms like vertigo. But this pause gave me something else: clarity. Through group and individual therapy, I remembered what I’m here to do.
I’ve filled 13 handwritten journals since 2018, filled with spirituality, emotional healing, and raw trauma work. These are the echoes of a life rebuilt. That’s where Echo Gothic was born.
In my youth I had a Gothic phase, but it wasn’t until my daughter said, “Mommy, you’re Gothic” at age 10 that I realized—being Gothic is a soul signature, not a style.
From the ashes of illness rose my mission:
To create a safe space for healing through writing.
To turn tragedy into transformation.
Now I offer both my personal handwritten journals and beautifully designed blank 75-page journals to guide others into their own healing.
✨ Echo Gothic is a healing movement.
You are not alone.
Your story matters.
With gratitude and feline grace,
Carolyn (The Purplekat)
