The mighty B-52. I didn't realize just how large these aircraft are. As I'm typing this on April 15 (yes, I'm scheduling posts), the B-52 has been flying exactly 71 years. April 15, 1952. This aircraft was flying before my dad joined the Marine Corps in 1953, will be flying for many years after I retire, and if he chooses, possibly after McCoy could have served a full 20 years and retired. Quite a remarkable aircraft.

We went to the Air Force Museum at Travis AFB for McCoy's birthday. He had a lot of fun checking out all the aircraft. Can you spot him and Pepper here?

Went on a longer than expected hike the other day. But the scenery was stunning.

I always find it interesting to see human intrusion in nature. The fisherman didn't intend to cause harm and didn't really. Just gave us an interesting contrast between nature and manmade.

Rocket after Liftoff. This is just as the rocket was starting to ascend. A lot of people were taking photographs at this moment. Not sure why it's so soft.

I borrowed a fellow's lens to get this tight shot of the rocket sitting on the pad. This is from the February 2021 rocket launch at Wallops Island, VA. Hopefully we can go back for a launch this year.

I liked this scene of the bird on the branch. Afterwards, I noticed the lead weight from a fisherman hanging off the tree. Constantly seeing contrasts in nature like this.

McCoy throwing a snowball. If you want to see the whole sequence of this throw, it's back in my posts from early in 2021. We don't get snow very much on the VA coast, so this was fun to do. I had him throw the ball and I got the whole sequence from the windup, release, and the ball in the air. I wanted to try the burst mode in my camera, something I wouldn't have really considered doing with my film camera because of film costs.

This is from the same night as the previous image of the bird. It's the last image I took that night. We were walking out of the park down a trail we hadn't taken before and I saw this tree off to the side. I had to set up my tripod to get the shot. I love how the yellow leaves offer such a striking contrast to the green pine trees all around.

This is from the first night I took my Canon 60D out just after I bought it. I liked the look of the bird sitting on the branch and thought it was neat how the bird turned to look at me right as I was getting the image.
