With all the hiking on Mount Yōtei I still managed to run into some furry friends. Thankfully no bear encounters (even though i secretly was hoping for one), just a little furry ezo chipmunk. This guy i spotted not too far down from the crater still above the clouds. I am very jealous of the views this little guy gets on the daily compared to the ones I get 😭

Starting to get done the photos of when I hiked Mount Yotei. These photos are one prior to the hike and during my ascent up the mountain. I thought i was prepared but oh boy was i wrong. I packed light on snacks and my legs were giving out with every step by the time I made it to the top. Not to mention every time I stopped and looked out i had mental battles on if I should get my camera out for that moment. The funny thing was if I didn't already have it out already the scene I initially saw would have been gone due to the clouds moving so fast.

In these photos you can see close ups of the small town near Yotei, Makkari and far away you can see Lake Toya and even the far end of the Uchiura Bay! These pictures dont do it justice. Being able to see so clear and so far was an experience like never before. More pictures to come but I was just excited to share the first few of my ascent 🀠

Posting this short few snapshots I took while at a transitional period in Japan (waiting for the bus). Was going from Lake Toya to Niseko and had a connecting bus stop in Rusutsu. This stop was super interesting, the bus stops on both sides of the road were these cute cabins with windows. On one side was a 7-Eleven and the other side was a amusement park.

The few shots I have on my short hike before the park closed. All past the welcome center on Nakajima island. When just hiking I hardly noticed much but when my time started to dwindled I slowed down and really took in my surroundings. In doing so I noticed someone many different birds, like the Japanese pygmy woodpecker, Eurasian Jay, and even a Masked Bunting. When I visit japan again this island is a spot I want to come back and take a whole day exploring 😭
