Last month I did a little “thing” and brought back some discounted Senior Portrait sessions for the Class of 2027. I really just wanted to dip my toes back in and see if this was something I wanted to bring back for real next year.

It felt a little like knocking the dust off while also realizing, “Oh yeah...I actually know what I’m doing.” 😂

And I’m really glad I started this little adventure with Lyla. Her mom and I kicked it back in the day, so getting to photograph her daughter’s senior portraits was a pretty cool full circle moment.

But seriously, I had SO much fun with this and I’m pretty excited to see where this little senior portrait adventure goes.

Documenting a newborn session is truly an honor. 🤍

You may have chosen me because you loved my work, fell in love with the added bonus of my client closet, or simply loved the feel of my studio. But being trusted to photograph your family during such a significant and deeply meaningful season is something I never take for granted.

Getting to photograph a newborn who, in the eyes of their doctors, is nothing short of a miracle makes that honor even greater.

This particular session meant so much to me. Not only did I get to document their beautiful family, but throughout their time in front of my camera, I was able to connect with them on a much more personal level. We shared stories, emotions, and moments that made this session about so much more than beautiful photographs.

It’s a session I know I won’t forget. And it’s a reminder of exactly why I love what I do so much. 🤍

The funny thing about being a cop AND a photographer is that, in a weird way, they’re actually pretty similar.

For almost 20 years, I walked into the homes of complete strangers and helped them fix a problem. I helped calm situations down, gave advice, listened, and guided people through whatever was happening in that moment.

And photography? Honestly… pretty much the same thing. 😂

For the past 7+ years, I’ve walked into sessions with families I’ve never met and helped guide them through the process. I calm the pre-session nerves, help the parents relax, calm down the crazy kids, hype up the shy ones, and somehow convince everyone that we’re going to get through this thing and actually have FUN. 😂

And you know what?

The one thing that has stayed consistent through both careers is this:

**The results depend on how you treat people.**

How you talk to people matters.
How you listen matters.
How you give direction matters.
How you make someone feel matters.

You can have all the training, all the equipment, all the experience in the world… but if you don’t know how to work with people, none of it matters much.

Whether I’m walking into a stranger’s home at 6am or meeting a family at sunset with a camera in my hand, my job is still pretty simple:

Listen.
Guide.
Calm the chaos.
Build trust.
And help people feel like they’re in good hands.

Apparently, I’ve been training for photography for 20 years. 😂

There is just something about these early days… the tiny stretches, the flaky skin, the way they curl right into you like they still remember home. It’s slow, it’s quiet, and it’s gone before you even realize it.

This is your reminder that you don’t have to have it all together to book the session. You don’t need to feel “ready.” You just have to show up… I’ll take care of the rest 🤍

From styling your entire family to gently posing your baby safely, I’ve got you every step of the way. You just soak it in.

Because these days? They don’t come back.
